Coppinger Cove Wheeling Trip! September 25-27

It may be like AOAA with that anthracite coal floating in all the water gets in it and just destroys it.

 

I been there five trips never had any issues

 

I know atleast 3 others including myself that had issues so i know i aint crazy lol

 

I'm good . I have a V8 T4R AWD so my starter sits on top of the motor ahhaa

 

Lol, I'm not say you crazy, I remember a few had problems. Maybe it was something that day or coincidence. I wheeled there with a lot of Samurai and Tacomas and that is the only day I know of that people has had issues.

 

Y'all doing another trip anytime soon?

i would strongly strongly advise against pulling a trailer back there





as far as the starters go, there is some kind of mineral in the water that reacts with the copper contacts in the starter that corrodes the crap out of them. Out of the ~10 times I’ve gone, at least one person has had starter issues every time, myself included. If the water isn’t too deep it’s not as much an issue but water levels can be all over the place out there


Super awesome place, just dont go ill prepared. I’ve broken a handful of things out there and all the body damage on my truck is from Coppinger haha. Be patient and take it slow and know when to pull winch line and everyone will be good

There’s a campground not too far from the entrance that we stayed at that you could park your trailer and go into the cove

 

Lol will do . As far as the starter issue goes I'm not too stressed over that considering I have a V8 4Runner. My starter sits on top of the engine lol

 

Just have to be careful there. I was riding the creek and almost out of no where my hood went underwater. I definitely wouldn’t go there after a good storm.

Is the water dam controlled or just depends on how much it rains?
