For those with the extended lift RedLine Tuning Hood Struts, is it possible to install ditch lights (Baja, CaliRaised, etc.)? Anyone done or tried, if so...success? Looks to be very tight and don't want to layout the cash for something that won't work. Thanks all.

a review for the Amazon link has this…

    1) Directions are pathetic, a small sheet with poorly translated incomplete documentation
    2) The ball joint pockets are plastic, they barely snap in
    3) each bracket is only secured by one bolt and will stretch your hood or worse, repair? $$$$
    4) The torsion on the brackets and strut arm are maxed out when the hood is open, lots of stress
    5) The double sided tape does not adhere to hood, pulls away at fully open
    6) the last 25% of travel upwards the struts stutter and pump like they are failing. Not smooth.
    7) Now the realllllly bad design. The left strut bolt replaces your cars battery ground...
....when you open the hood you can clearly see sheering forces and bending of the strut bolt....
....if this one bolt decides to loosen or bend enough to lift your battery ground you are doomed.

I have this on my wishlist

it’s not that serious. o_O Can’t tell if sarcasm or not.

anyway, it looks cheap and the things pointed out in the review are concerning. Seeing a picture of the mount point with one bolt was enough for me to say no then I scrolled down to read the review I quoted.
    Marked as helpful, too :D

Get the redlines. Don’t bother with Amazon ones. I have them with ditch lights and have no issues. I am a 2nd gen though.

Exactly… I have had zero issues with my no drill struts after 12 mos . Nothing is loose, bent or out of kilter. If you begin to lower your hood as you normally do, the closing complaint is plain silly. Dont slam or drop the hood like a caveman. Just lower it down then drop it.
They are definitely less detrimental than DRILLING HOLES INTO HOOD. Believe me Im anal when it comes to mods, and if I can avoid drilling holes I will.. These are not junk at all. Cant always take Amazon reviews literally…

Yes the Spiker struts are nice , especially the new single strut Tacoma version which would only require one hole, but Im satisfied with the Sokietechs .

The Sokietechs definitely fill a gap for people like me who don’t want to drill unnecessarily . I’d buy them again if I got a new truck. Easy to install, tons of vids online if extra help is needed.

Finally...someone who answers the question. Thanks man. Will start looking into ditch lights now.

Wasn't asking about which model strut is the best, was asking if ditch lights would clear with extended range/extended lift, RedLine struts.

    All the things!
Careful. He's probably running the Redline standard struts. The extended opening struts could very well cause the ditch lights to contact the windshield.

This is an easy question to answer. Open your hood with the prop rod, like normal. Then lift the hood an additional 6". If the ditch lights don't contact, then you're golden.

I also have the standard Redlines, with Rago low profile brackets and Vision X 3.7 canons. Obviously they don't contact the windshield, or I wouldn'tkeep them. The bracket brand, type, and light model will all make a difference, so you need to measure for your particular circumstances.

    Good luck!

I went with the Striker hood lift kit and ditch lights. I was able to gain 6.5" of hood lift over the prop rod height before the lights just touch the windshield rubber on full open.

SPOT ON my man. Thanks for clarifying. And, appreciate the additional details. I have some Rago products, so I will look into them for some lo-pro brackets.

BTW: I've had my RedLine's installed for about 10 months. Love them and the extra hood height is beneficial.

Get use to it man. Recently, folks around here have this huge sense of entitlement to tell other what they should get and how to spend their money. And God forbid you decide to go a different route or disagree, they will lose their $h!t lol. Don't get sucked in and just ignore those messages, and look for those that actually address your concerns.

Sorry to mislead you, the ditch lights are Nightrider side shooters. Same size as most 3" cube led's. The ditch light brackets are the cheap ones off of Amazon. I was looking for the caliraised ones, but couldn't find any available here in Canada.

aren't there 2 grounds? and isn't that 'just' the body ground, not the chassis ground?

though +1 on the spikers. yes, rivets are a pain, but once they're in, they're in. gud nuf for oem, gud nuf fer me!

Just to specify, extended lift redlines. I will caveat tho.......i did have to go back further and in more than most with the lights on the cowl. I wasn't just as easy most mounting. You'll need need to be a bit creative, or willing to take the lights on and off.
