I hate the look and function of just about any stock side step. Any of them will disintegrate on any sort of impact or scrape.

As for lowest profile, I think Cali Raised 25 degree sliders look clean and tuck away the best, but you lose the benefit of a step. I like my Cali Raised 0 degree with top plates for that reason.

I have SOS customs @ 15°, which seems to be the best of both worlds. Love them, but hate the company. A quick search on here and you’ll learn why.

I say this as an owner of boards - get the sliders.

Mine are great for keeping the gravel chips down. They suck at everything else. They even suck as a step.

I like nerf bars but they are not meant for off roading. Are you looking for “cool” looks or off road function. First time you bang into a rock with nerf bars they’ll get major dented up and look like shit. It sounds like you aren’t into off roading and just want them for looks. All that matters is what looks cool to you. Why would you even care what we think looks cool? Just get what ever you think looks good and be done with it.

    Preach!

I think rock sliders look cool, so I’d buy them for that reason and as a “just in case.” Good for teaching lessons about parking too close and not watching your doors. Good for shopping t carts too, if for nothing else. I think they’re more expensive, though?

Definitely will be more expensive, but if he wants nerf bars there are plenty being taken off and sold here or locally!

+1 for @Shmellmopwho, if you are local to SoCal. I swapped my OEM predator steps for his sliders and they are nice. I believe they are set at 10° but can be made custom. The can also be made with or without a kickout, and with an optional top plate as well if wanting to use more for steps. With my predator steps, I'd find myself white-knuckling the steering wheel whenever I went over large rocks or anything where I could possible get the steps dinged or bent. With sliders, I'm still careful but just knowing I have more robust protections gives me more peace of mind and enjoyment wherever I go.

I got a set of all pro apex at the recommendation of my local mod shop when they did my face lift.
They don’t make the nicest step, but definitely work for that.

Rock sliders are only worth it if you're offroading. Mine are angled close to the body so they're not the best step, but I bedlined them to provide some extra grip. I have to actively avoid them when hopping out of my truck otherwise my calves will rub on them. My calves were actually bald at one point from sliding out LOL

Ish. I use my 15° for steps and have unequivocal proof that they’ve stopped a few doors from hitting mine. And they look great. To your point, I likely wouldn’t have purchased them without a plan to take the truck off road. If I never end up taking it off road, I’ll have no regrets.

Never use Rhino lining for Rock sliders, the dirt and mud will stain them. Very hard to keep clean. Power coating is the best.

I regret the rhino lining on mines. After a good scrubbing, I will spray paint with Rustoleum black paint, almost monthly.B2BC2871-8A2D-4911-AA06-F0EC2E990DDD.jpg902A4482-7892-4B55-ABB4-5126B427736B.jpg
