im running bilstein 6112 2" lift in the front and and a 2.5 inch lift in the rear creating 1.5" of rake. I was wondering if i could run a spacer in the front additionally to create only .5" of rake. im in the process of getting a steel bumper with winch as well which will slightly sag the front. just wondering if that'll cause my coils to bottom out before the bump stops do their job or any alignment issues. that sort of thing etc...

IMO I wouldn’t but that’s me. Having rake is good if you use your truck.what coils are you running? If you have standard 600lb coils you will need to bump up to 650 to compensate for weight.

Can you not just adjust the preload? Spacers are a bandaid. If your budget is big enough for bilstein 6112’s, why screw around with spacers?

i do use the truck which is why i like the rake was just curious on the implications of adding a spacer instead of upgrading to a 2.5 or 3 inch lift up dront since the bilsteins max at a 2" lift. hadn't thought of preload... do i need a special wrench?

Assuming you have stock coil springs, preload is the way the bilsteins give you lift. I’m never owned any bilsteins but I suspect you need a spring compressor to adjust the preload. I’ve adjusted the preload on my kings while on the truck, but they have a different adjustment mechanism. Did you install your 6112s yourself?

no they came on the truck. the coils are also bilstein 600 spring rate. looking into it the preload is maxed for lift height already which i believe is 5 notches on the passenger side and 6 on the driver. if im correct... first time ive posted on a forum before thanks for the responses!

If you want more lift, you can change to 700 lb springs.

Spacers can work but you'll need upgraded upper control arms and bumpstop spacers.

I have 600 lb/in coil springs as well and with 150 lb sliders and I have 2-2.5” of lift with preload to spare. If you can’t get to the ride height you want and you have the budget, I would recommend going up to 650 lb/in springs or higher as opposed to spacers.

i got upgraded ucas. bump stop spacers... that's what i was curious about if i ran a small spacer if the coils would bottom out before the bump stops hit hmm... would a higher spring rate yield more height? i am having a bumper built with a winch. the interwebs say the 600 springs are rated for 140lbs continuous weight

Yes a higher spring rate, all else equal, will raise the ride height. It will also stiffen up ride quality all else equal.

okay cool. wasn't sure since the suspension was put on by a previous owner. do you think the 700lb springs would be alright with ~150lbs on the front? just want to avoid sag and maybe gain .5 inch of front lift of possible.
