If one is willing to buy at inflated prices, chances are losing money over time is not a concern.

I can tell you if a trade, a bone stock taco will usually be easier to get a better deal than a modded one. Dealers here don't like to take in trucks with a lot of aftermarket mods unless they can get them cheap.

I agree. But i don't buy vehicles or homes for the thought of resale value. If i don't enjoy it, i won't spend my money or "suffer" to hope to make money down the road.

Allegedly used car prices are coming down. That means new car prices will also come down.

Well with a recession on the horizon they will have a hard time giving them away unless people can find some money.

The MSRP can go up… they can still be discounted 5-10k like most were a few years ago. That’s a big miss by people not realizing how much cars are up right now. Some people on here have paid 8k over MSRP … i got my 2018 for like 5k under … that’s a $13,000 difference for price paid in a 4 year span. That’s not sustainable.
Go back to the earlier years prices paid threads, short term memory is too strong lol… Tacoma’s will be below MSRP before you know it.

you guys think gas prices are bad now? Just wait for summer season in a few months

July 2023…. Tacomas sitting on lots unsold because gas is $5+ a gallon, people back at work commuting again, realizing their gas bill is over $500 a month just to get to work + insurance + paying $13,000more than 4 years ago(in some instances) + driving a depreciating asset… Sorry but wages haven’t gone up enough to sustain this pricing. The dealers know it too

July 2023 people will be on here posting pictures of 2023 Tundra TRD Pros with a $30,000 market adjustment for a total of $120,000... and people will respond with... there's an ass for every seat... and just because it's Hybrid it doesn't get any better gas milage. Then someone will chime in with how great their 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning is.

Yea this will happen as well, some people are very well off so nothing really matters lol. Tacomas are a volume business though, they’re like the Camry of trucks

    Some industry facts:
Used cars depreciated for the first time in a year beginning in December. They have continued to depreciate.

Supply side manufacturing from TMNA is gone, we are now demand side.

1.5 million vehicles that were supposed to be built last year, we’re not. They will never be.

As long as you had a trade, you didnt get hurt paying over msrp. I took 250 deals from Sept of 21 and laid them over Sept of 2019, if you had a trade, NET diff was less than $300.

Planning on driving mine hopefully to 300K a minimum of 200k for how expensive trucks are these days. Last new truck I bought was an 05 colorado for around 24k I think. I didn't want to pay over MSRP but got tired of not getting my allocation so i found exactly what I wanted and paid a small premium for that. Im ok with it, I drive a lot for work so my truck will see a lot of miles no matter what. Once I get the AC fixed in my daily hopefully I can rotate them and use my tacoma more as I planned as an adventure vehicle.

Oh and having a car allowance from work that pays my insurance, truck payment and still have money left over doesn't hurt either. On top of paying for Gas, oil changes and tires once a year. I still want to get my daily going again as I really love this truck.

Yes, this is all short term industry trends. Unless of course you think manufacturers like Toyota enjoy losing sales by not having vehicles on the lot. Wife wanted a 4 runner…. The industry pushed her into a Mazda CX-5 instead. We’re discussing the future…. Ordering vehicles isn’t the new normal. People still want to drive what they buy…. Your dealer network was set up to sell inventory, kickbacks from banks, after sale service.
