    Hey folks.

I'm getting a doubleDIN HU, as my first upgrade to my new taco. I've never installed anything on any vehicle before, but I've looked through all the guides here and I'm pretty sure I can manage. I'm a smart boy.

I figure the HU is a good place to start my upgrades, since for one it's the thing I'm the most dissatisfied with. (One cd and the radio just ain't cutting it) Also it seems the easiest thing to upgrade.

Anyway, I've been doing some research and the most highly rated doubleDIN HU's (around my $500 price range) seem to be:

    Kenwood Exelon DNX6960

    or

    JVC KW-NT3HDT

Anyone have any experience with either of these? I'm kind of leaning towards the Kenwood because I want to run the ipod cable through my floorboards into the center console, but the JVC has the iPod connection in the front.

Are there other HU's out there that I'm not considering?

Thanks for any and all help.

Man, I can't find a Black doubleDIN kit anywhere. There's one on Amazon but it isn't black in the picture and there are no reviews which makes me leery. It's just silver ones everywhere.

I did a bit of research and ended up going with the DNX6960. I haven't installed it yet. Ordered it new off ebay for 685 shipped with a 2 year warranty.

Thanks for the tips guys. I ended up deciding on an Alpine INA-W900BT from Amazon for 800 bucks. Got a harness and black Metra kit on the way as well. Took some work to find the dash kit, but I found one after a bit of digging.

I guess I just don't see the point of spending all that money on in car navigation anymore when I have google maps/navigation on my phone for free that's always up to date.
