The 120 v. outlet in the bed is a selling point for the uninitiated buyers. The dirty secret is that it's not of much practical use.

You're better off running a 12 v. outlet direct to the battery, and using 12 v. accessories and appliances.

Use it to grind coffee. Jetboil water. French press and enjoy.

I just bought a jetboil myself. Looking forward to using it in a couple of weeks.

I was looking at alternatives to French press as its less clean-up while camping. Any good suggestions on instant coffee?

400 watts 3.33 amps at 120 volts. So supplying the converter from the battery at 12 volts takes 33.3 amp from the battery. So 1,000 watt inverter coffee pot 80+ amp from the battery. Lot more energy in a 1lb propane tank and your battery won't be dead when you head home.
