Hey all - first time poster! I love this site...

I've watched a ton of videos and read several threads on this topic. However, I can't seem to get the grille off of the 22 TRD Sport.

I've removed the two 10mm bolts, four of the clips at the far bottom and two by the lights (one by each side) for a total of 6 clips and the 2 bolts. It seems like something else is holding it in place still.... What am I missing?

Side q: do ya'll get the TSS Sensor recalibrated after changing?

Two bolts two clips on each side top and pull. It’s that easy. I can pull mine in about 3 min.

Two clips in total? As in one by each light?

How hard do I have to pull? I felt like I have it a decent pull but I'm afraid I'll snap some of the cheap plastic...

Yes two clips. I know it feels wrong to just pull but that’s it. Grab it by the top and pull.

Disconnect the wire connector first. Also lay the grill on a soft blanket or towel so you don’t scratch it up. That would be my only advice that this guy in the video didn’t do. Otherwise it’s that easy.

I've seen this (and a lot of others). All of the videos make it seem like it can be removed with minimal force. Just some pressure and pull it out.

I guess my question is that I'm wondering if they added new clips on the 22. It definitely seems like something is holding it in place but maybe It's just because it's new.

    Oh look, another mod....

No, they are using the same clips as before. Also, you do not need to re-calibrate the TSS sensor. Putting a washer or two underneath it is sufficient.

Thanks! Got it off, finally. Just found the right angle and it clicked.

Regarding the TSS sensor, I did one washer and I'm getting the sign on my dash that it's malfunctioning. I guess I'll have to try another. Would it matter if my truck is lifted with 33s (changing the height from the ground?

Nope, the lift doesn't really affect it; it just changes the view point. Disconnect the sensor cable, then re-connect it. Make sure it clicks securely.

The plastic isn’t really cheap considering what your paying.

I'm pretty sure it's in all the way but worth a try! The light isn't always on btw. It's usually off when I start driving and comes on after a couple mins. I've read that they calibrate themselves over time though...

Fair point. Just didn't seem overly sturdy but I was wrong!

You might want to unplug the battery for 15 minutes or more, and then try to see if the front sensor resets itself. It may not be necessary to add a washer, as I didn't add a washer to my truck with a 3-inch lift. I have no issues with the TSS. Of course, please refer to Toyota recommendations.

Yeah mine would sometimes have issues for a little then the issues went away- I’d drive it for a couple weeks before getting too crazy. Holding the cruise button down will activate normal cruise in the interim

Thanks. Today I drove around for 20 mins or so with no issues whatsoever. And I did nothing to it. Maybe it just took some time to reset?

Sounds correct. As long as you dont have a monster lift and reinstalled the sensor perfectly you shouldn’t have any issues . You really have to mess things up bad to need it recalibrated by the dealer. Ive done 2 swaps(‘21+ ‘22 Sports with cameras ) and never had any issues.
