What’s your budget? We have two car seats, an expensive gucci one (Britax) because..wife..and normal one we prefer and love (Graco). Britax is better crash ratings, higher quality, and higher cost. The Graco is inexpensive, functional, lighter. One is a Lexus the other is a Toyota.

My kids are older now, but I remember there being a sick Recaro baby seat you could get.

Copy and paste from another thread recently asking something similar:

“Wife and I got the “nuna pipa” system. Car seat base is solid and allows for easy transfer between both our vehicles with 2 bases. The car seat also goes with the stroller and clips right in. Highly rated for safety and everything is machine washable.

We have 2 bases, a car seat, and a stroller.

Diono Radian. Slim profile, doesn’t take up a lot of room in the back. Kid likes it.

I have 2 Chicco carseats. An infant one we use now, the Key Fit 30. And one for when she can go forward facing, a convertible Chicco for when she is a bit bigger.

The rear facing Key Fit 30 is a tight squeeze, as it requires the front seat back rest to be moved up so that it has clearance and does not rub.

I’m only answering the man’s question. It’s the only thing I have an opinion on since we bought this particular one based off of other reviews and it’s ease of use/safety and are happy with it so we haven’t switched or tried anything else.

Chiccos have always been great for me. Especially the mechanisms for removing from the LATCH points. Have also had Graco seats which are fine until you need them out for any reason

My kid was in booster seats before I got my Tacoma, but I had a Mazda 3 with a smaller back seat. The seat I used was called the Combi Coccoro. It is about the smallest car seat that can flip from rear facing to front facing on the market. The downside to them is they only last until the kid is 40lbs, but that got me to the point that I could get another seat that could convert to booster down the road.

My wife had a larger car at the time that could hold one of those Chicco seats that is good up to 70lbs.

I just found out the other day why I had this mystery scar on my forehead. One of three, I couldn’t account for it. Turns out childseats are a good thing.

The fireman doing the free safety inspection of my carseat was impressed with my Britax.
I can't say I was sampling other brands, but the Britax served me well, got a thumbs up from first responder, and had fairly decent resale value when I sold it after my kid outgrew it. If I had to buy another, I'd get another Britax.
