Why are people pouncing on the OP? He is letting us know Toyota has a special right now and if you need some tires maybe check the dealer. He gave us an example of what it cost him so we can get an idea and compare to other places.

    OP-Appreciated.

Straight up truth here. A post with a price. Can't ask for more than that.

People are funny and as someone who was in sales and managed sales teams, buyers are quirky. Some folks will respond to a buy something get something for free promo, others will respond to a 0% financing offer, others just want to negotiate a deal, and then others who just don't care at all and want to spend as little of time possible to get what they need. At the end of the day, the street number of the product doesn't waiver that much. Marketing is just an appeal to a specific type of buyer and their mindset, nothing more, nothing less.

Typically with tires, most of us don't plan ahead. But rather were on a roadtrip, have a problem and were at the mercy of wherever we are at the local tire shop to get the problem fixed and get back on the road. It's never convenient... especially if you happen to have a tow vehicle with a large trailer behind you. I can limp home a short distance on my spare.. but other times it's not worth the risk of being stranded and you have to just buy what is available. Those are the times when you can get bent over. I learned at a young age, growing up in a very rural area where becoming stranded could have some dire consequences that tires were one of the most important things to pay attention to. There were no cell phones and you could drive for hours and maybe see two other rigs. Being a bit proactive in that department is a good thing and buying when it's convenient and saving a few bucks is always better than the alternative.

I've met some characters around here for sure. I agree with you though; but there's definitely some real bad apples in the bunch. As for OP's price out the door for all 4, I spent the same on a set a 4 same size KO2s from DTD. Not knocking his deal, but I think thats why others are poking holes at his deal. Seems to be about the normal price (if you apply any given coupon/rebate at the time). I wouldn't bash OP for his deal; seems to me he just came to spread the info to others; and others are spreading the info of the harsh reality of "free" things in life.

Sure. they can put whatever wording they want on the sale, but when the card was pulled out to pay his deal is better that current tire rates out the door at most places.
On discount tire's site the price for these tires (ALL TERRAIN T/A KO2LT265 /75 R16 123R E1 RWL) is $1,322.53 out the door with the certificates and without its still $1,131.53 including tax in my area.
Who cares if they say its a free tire, or 25% off or whatever?

Ive been around "forums" since the AOL/Usenet days. You either have guys who participate and share information, the police/search nazi club, the regulars....etc. In every group there are some real fucking shitbirds as well.

Fortunately, they are pretty easy to identify and forum tools these days make it pretty easy to eliminate them from your world.

    Most definitely.

Definitely not me; thats kinda why I said OP just came to share the information, I think you missed that part. OP got a good deal; I'm not in the group saying he didn't.

Priced up some tires for my Tundra last week. My local dealer's per tire price was the same as Discount Tire's per tire price. It easily would save me $2-300 on a set of 4. So, deal or not, call it what you want. As long as your dealer uses competitive pricing, this saves you money.

Toyota does this every April. I'm getting four new Destination LE tires on my 2019 SR5 on Monday. In addition Firestone has a $60.00 rebate on the Destination LE that ends on Monday.

It's easy to see if it's a good deal. Check on line prices for the tire you want and compare it to the Toyota price. If the Toyota price is higher than say, Town Fair, Mavis, or NTB, you know it's not a good deal.

Big issue with buy 3 tires and get 1 free is usually your buying old tires that were made sometime ago. Been that route, after a little over a year they were beginning to crack and dry rot. If you like buying old stock they go for it.

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
    Absolutely! I will.
    I'd offer the exact same comment/opinion face-to-face.
I wasn't doubting the deal. Just challenging the idea that OP got a 'free' tire. After all, 'sales' are just as much marketing as they are good deals. What really matters is the price per unit.
