    Yo, TW.

2020 DCLB OR AT looking to relocate backup camera to a new swingout bumper with spare tire carrier, and there are plenty of threads on that (so don't skewer me). After a significant amount of time searching however, I can't find anyone mentioning the possible interference with the multi-terrain feature/birdseye view. I will be doing the install in about a week, so I was hoping to gather advice on it if it exists, and if it doesn't I will post whatever solution I settle on.

My current idea is to use an existing harness extension to run the wire to the center of the spare, and then create a removable clamp to attach through to the nearest portion of the spare wheel. I'm thinking it needs to be pretty close to the same angle if you want an almost seamless birdseye view. I will also experiment with 4 inches over in the middle of the wheel, but I don't really want it recessed as that blocks the peripherals fairly significantly

For those of you with their trigger fingers on the keyboard ready to rant about how no one should care about this, this is to remove my wife's excuses when she inevitably bumps someone trying to park this thing. image000001.jpg

Honestly if I were you I would buy another camera and one of those rear view mirror monitors. Put it in as a separate system so you know it wont cause problems.

But the only problems you will run into will be the rear view will not line up with the side views. The normal rear view will work just fine.

You can also get one of these, then you wont have to deal with wiring or taking out the old camera, just plug this into the harness under the bed, run the wires on your swing arm and hook up the camera.

The 10 footer wouldnt be too bad if he is going from the plug to the swing arm hinge, along the swing arm and up to the tire.

Thanks! The link died in the 7 hours since you posted this somehow, but thats close to the solution I will probably use.

I did just find a new thread where the guy managed to do this and got it pretty close, albeit with a significantly different angle than oem. A pretty convenient disconnectable solution with both back up cameras in case you want to run without the swingout or whatever. For style points I really would like to match the side and back views as closely as possible. It does look like his 360 camera might have some blind spots in those corners. Call me a perfectionist.

    Alright, just ordered this kit.
    https://www.bobsmirrors.com/Complet...or-2020-2022-Toyota-Tacoma-Trucks_p_1591.html

It's expensive, but it's complete plug and play with some sort of control unit for auto switching to a trailer camera from Zorg. I am running up on a deadline next week and this ships quick. Also Bob talked to a Zorg tech, and they confirmed. It should be perfect for this application, due to already included heavy duty wires, available extensions in different lengths, and weather-proof connectors with covers, along with the ability to detach the swingarm and unplug the extension for a clean bumper. Also got a really high quality 180 degree field of view camera that might screw with the 360 because the factory is probably like 140-160, but I'll take the plunge and take the $ hit to test it out.
