Yeah and ok when dry too if you’re on the highway for 10mi. It’s the right turns that’ll bind the drivetrain

Out of curiosity, what is the purpose of the hose that connects to the actuator?

The syncro is designed to hold in the cog in place. It should not pop out unless it is worn out. Also, those plastic gears are not designed for the constant load of holding the cog in place, they would shear.

It is still plastic and the rod is steel... eventually something will win.. the syncro is a triple syncro, just like what is found in a manual transmission. Try to pop one of those out of gear under load... that is gonna be tough and violent when it does pop out.. that is why it has to be unloaded to shift. The directions for the transfer case shift on the fly are no different. You need to release the accelerator to get it to shift easier.

4H going straight on wet pavement should be fine.... better to do it on dirt/snow though. There's no reason to ever get into 4L on pavement... only for offroad use!

I exercise the 4lo shift by using the 2lo mod. I do it at least once a month. In a parking lot.

I don't know, the plastic gear seems to win every time I shift to and from 4x4.

Exactly why I try to come back and provide updates to questions when I ask them….. including my own ‘4wd light blinking’ thread that didn’t get much traction, except for from you. Thanks again for always chiming in when we need a nudge in the right direction.

Sorry for bailing out on everyone, I did make it home, I took the actuator off, pushed the shifter rod in 2wd,left the gears out of the actuator, put it back on and drove home.

    Glad you got back.

You will need this, check the photos. There is a video up somewhere as well, shows the process but not as detailed.

    Good luck.
