I had that one, but decided to get the MXTA26 after reading some poor reviews on the ghost antenna. After switching, I can tell you that I have been picking up a ton more people with it compared to the ghost antenna (MXTA25). Haven't talked to anybody yet, though.

Thanks. That looks like a 5/8 wave antenna. I wish I understood this better, but I found this so maybe I'll give it a try.

From what I understand, 5/8 needs a ground plane like being installed in the middle of the roof. Off to the side, on the bumper, etc. will be less than optimal. I have no idea how much so as I haven't found any explanation yet that makes sense. The one I linked is probably a 1/2 wave which apparently don't need a ground plane. Again, I really don't understand so don't take my word for it.

Gotcha. I got it mounted on my roof rack and so far, has been performing better than the ghost...receiving wise. So, for now, it's good enough for me. I will bookmark that antenna you posted just in case, lol.

Great looking install. Just ordered the MTX275, and I'm looking at endless mounting possibilities.

Curious. is the speaker for the radio in the handset or the main unit? And if its in the main unit, can you hear it ok in the glovebox?

Main unit. You can kind of hear it while its closed....but I wouldn't recommend it. If you leave the glove box open, you can hear it fine. I installed an external speaker near the brake pedal and wired it to that.

There is a speaker in the handset too. Look at pg 25 of the manual and it tells how to change it. I just got done installing mine too and had to research changing it.

Oh thats gnarly! Good to know. Either way, I had my old CB speaker still installed that works nicely! I will check out the speaker in the handheld though.
