Your first haul did some public good, that fish hook looks nasty! Also, it shows you are using your detector right, looks like a good day of practice!

It's not much to you pros out there, but I thought this was pretty cool. My wife is going to hate that I want to keep it. The house was built in 1989, so this predates that by maybe 10-15+ years.

Edit: My wife found it and asked why we're displaying garbage now. :help:

I think you're correct on the timeline. It smacks of mid-seventies.

Did they have any good tasting canned beer in the 70s? There were two pull tab Pepsi cans and a small doritos wrapper a short distance away - that sounds like the better choice.

Back from a weekend scouting/detecting trip in the local desert. Talk about skunks! Sure had fun though. It was more of a self-taught training trip on using a newer detector. Lots of bird shot and old bullets, boot tacks and odd junk.

Did find some old barbed wire points- this star (guessing that’s what it is) and a possible Stubbe plate (variation) from the late 1800’s - unfortunately I lost the plate so drew it - anyone see one of these? It had a 7 stamped on it also:

Note these were small- star is only 5/8” wide, the plate about 1/2” wide, both with sharp points.

Hey thanks for the collectors weekly reference, looks interesting. So I think I know where I dropped it, maybe I can find it again.

And when I do find it, I should send them a picture, maybe they’ll know what it is:

    About the star point:

Patented 1912 by Frank Matoushek of Witten, SD Patent #1,039,159. The 5 point star used in this design is a symbol of the inventors faith. It is known as the Epiphany star, and is also known as the Star of David. A great deal of symbolism was used in the design of early barbed wire.

I found 16 cents in my campsite today. They were each about 6-8 inches deep in the sandy soil. I can't see any dates, but I'm sure they're just clad.

I work in a dept with 5x people in the room and one of my co-worker asked me the other day, "hey Randy, if there was one good thing you could do for the company what would you do?"

My immediate response was, "fire you!!!" :notsure:

My other co-workers started laughing except the one that asked the question. :notsure:

That same co-worker last week was talking to me about, "would you be able to handle being the President of The United States?"

I then told him, "it's an easy job... all I need to know is how to press the 'RED Button'...?"

My other co-worker then asked, "which finger would you use to press the red button?"

I told him, "my middle finger!!!"

I think my co-workers worry about me sometimes? :rasta:
