The guy in front of you did it right, slow and steady. If you haven't relocated your diff breather, check your fluid.

Good rule of thumb is that once flowing water reaches rocker panel height you best think twice or risk being swept off the crossing.

We generally know the line and flow here. The water level was about a foot higher the night before, so I left my truck on the other side of the river for the night. I didn't want to risk it. It went down overnight and the flow slowed down.

The chick that hydrolocked her Cherokee, and her group of friends, all got a running start and plunged into the river... We were all surprised when that Ford pickup even made it across, he was sputtering and throw white spoke and water out of his exhaust.

Rear diff breather relocation mod for the win.

That's a horrible idea. What time?
After our last trip out, the air filter stopped some muddy water from a reactionary wave. So air intake relocation is on the agenda.

Are the OEM seals and breather that bad to where I have to check the diff fluid on a brand new truck with 6k miles?

The breather is mounted on top of the diff housing so it is easily submerged. Easy 1st mod is to relocate higher up. I put mine up inside taillight cutout.

I understand it's there and that it's easily submerged (as it was in this case), but is the whole set up in general that bad, to where at 6k miles I'd have to worry about water in the diff?

Depends if you drive through deeper water or not. I sometimes do. I once blew out the seals and dumped the oil from the diff on my brakes on my old 2nd gen truck. Don't chance it anymore. I relocated mine at less than 1,000km's.

Damn, that last pic is proper. The stance and proportions just all look perfect. Great job! Sucker for a good sunroof pop too.

I will be doing this next month. Any pointers or suggestions on places to stop and see over others?
