Confusion comes because all Tacomas have the same ground clearance. Lift lifts the body so there's more approach/departure angle. Pumpkin is the same distance from the ground on all Tacomas. The only way to actually improve the clearance is to fit bigger tires and then the ground clearance goes up by 1/2 diameter increase over stock.
The other confusing thing is Toyota wasn't clear about the lift on the 2022 Pro. It's 1.5"/0.5" F/R lift over OR but most reviews took that to mean it was lifted that much over 2021 PRO which is wasn't. It's only a 0.5" increase over 2021s Front and Rear. as those already had a 1.0" lift only in the front.

Then there's the Trail lift this year (wasn't lifted last year) and also TRD lift is available as an accessory which all adds to the confusion about what's out there.

Probably the better question to ask...is a lift really needed?
