I've owned a 2012 RAV4 Limited that was totaled by a fallen tree, and a 2016 RAV4 Limited that I traded in on a 2018 Tacoma SR5 from a local Toyota dealership last June. I purchased the Tacoma with just over 9,000 miles on the odometer and a clear dealer certification. I did not buy an extended warranty package. The 2016 RAV4 and the 2018 Tacoma RS5 were purchased from the same dealership. My plan was to use the Tacoma to pull a future trailer to transport a new Honda Talon 1000X FLV. I purchased the Talon in January and just last Friday purchased a new Aluma 7712 trailer from a local trailer dealership.

Here's were it gets interesting. While testing the trailer lights at the dealership the right blinker did not work on the trailer. The technician at the trailer dealership checked the trailer with his equipment and all was good. He then checked the Tacoma plug and the signal for the right blinker was not working. I checked the Owners Manual to locate the fuse boxes which it did show, but did not diagram the fuse locations or the panel. I drove the 40+ miles home with the trailer on back roads. Once home I connected the trailer plug to our Mazda CX-5 and all lights worked on the trailer.

Yesterday I took the Tacoma into the dealership to have them evaluate the problem. They confirmed the blinker signal was not working on either the flat or round plug and that there is no fuse for the trailer blinkers. The dealership was ready to dig into the problem and track it down. They said it could take several hours and they would charge me for the work. I turned that offer down and headed back home only to drive down the interstate on ramp and discover the hood was not completely latched. I pulled over, opened the hood and closed it with authority. The State Patrol pulled over to investigate, was very friendly, and saw us on our way.

Any help here would be appreciated. Where should I start looking to track down this right blinker problem? I'm disappointed that the dealership would not take care of this issue at no charge to me. Are there other solutions that you can think of?

    Thanks for listening.

I have a positive update to my trailer light problem that I originally reported. The Toyota dealer that had originally informed me that I would have to cover the cost to investigate and repair the right blinker issue, emailed to let me know my Tacoma had in fact 12 month or 12,000 miles warranty coverage. Just returned from picking up my Tacoma after being repaired at no cost to me. While they had the Tacoma they provided a 2022 4Runner TRD Off Road addition loaner. I understand why 4Runner owners appreciate there rides. Now I'm good to go pulling our new Honda Talon 1000X FLV on the new Aluma trailer. All Smiles!
