This morning I got a pop-up about a multi media update so I installed it. Everything seemed OK.
Now this afternoon when I connected my phone it started to play music from where it was when I got out of the truck as normal. But now is I tap the android auto software button to open the app full screen the screen is just black. Same thing if I press the map button, which should bring up Google maps with my phone connected.
Phone is a pretty new Samsung Galaxy A53 with android 12. I've had the phone since March 29 and it's been working since then.
I've tried turning of the truck disconnect and reconnect but this has not helped
Anyone else have a similar problem?

I had the same install happen this morning but AA worked fine during the early commute. Hopefully everything works fine on the way home tonight.

That worked. I had to uninstall AA too after cleaning cache from play services and android auto. Re install AA, Then reboot the phone. Once rebooted plugged in again and it prompts to set up android auto with your phone like it’s new to the truck and works again

    Awesome thanks.

Everything went fine on my evening commute. I'll have to keep this post in mind in case something goes wrong down the line.

It actually looks like it was a phone problem but it did do the media update on the head unit while I was using Android auto. Then the next time I went to use it it was not working correctly. Seems like a coincidence to me.
Good thing is I didn't need to visit the dealership for a software flash.

Turning it on and off didn't help, that was the first thing I thought of.
What did help with the solution was the reddit link @ktbell444 posted.

This is what worked for me. On the phone
Go to setting > apps > android auto > storage > clear cache then do the same with google play services
Go to the play store. Uninstall AA, then download and install the latest version. Reboot phone. Connect phone to truck when rebooted it should work again after you do the AA guided set up.

    Playing my music app:
