I bought a 2011 Tacoma Silver Double cab TRD. The paint has peeled on all 4 fenders, there are some scratches on the front bumper and a few rust spots on the rear bumper. It only has 56,000 miles on it.

I’m thinking about 2 options: 1. only getting the bumpers and fenders painted $1500 or 2. painting the whole truck Cement gray. $3500.

Advice on what should I do?

That sounds like a personal preference. I'm going to guess that the new fender paint may not match the rest of the truck due to its age. So if you're okay with that then fenders seem fine. Otherwise, paint the whole vehicle

Thanks. Yes, personal preference for sure. I’m wondering how much of an impact on the value of the truck painting it would be?

My advice it to never change paint colors.

Without any additional info I'd 100% opt for the bumpers/fenders only. But, I'd also go get some more quotes.

$1500 for bumpers and fender flares sounds like a pretty reasonable price for a decent to good autobody shop. I think you could expect decent quality for this price as long as the shop does good work. Depending on the shop this price may or may not include blending into the other nearby panels.

$3500 for a full color change repaint sounds like bargain basement pricing and I wouldn't expect good results. I'm guessing this does not include door jambs and that they'll rely on masking rather than removing things like glass, moldings, trim, lights...etc. I'd expect overspray and subpar quality work. Around here, unless you've got a buddy hooking you up, you should expect $6-10k for a full color change repaint done the right way.

Depends a lot on the buyer. For many enthusiasts such as myself paint work is almost always reduces the value of a vehicle or outright makes it a deal breaker. It's rare when an aftermarket paint job is higher quality than the original paint.

I've shopped for a lot of vehicles in the past 5yrs. I have been willing to consider something with minor accident history or repair work that was done VERY well. But, anything that was fully painted it was immediate back button and on to looking at other options. I've yet to see a fully painted car for sale which I would be willing to buy. They exist, but they're gonna be rare.

That said, my standards may be a lot higher than others and some would think the opinions expressed above are crazy, lol.

The $1500 and $3500 quotes are from a reputable Autobody shop but you’re correct, the full paint job price doesn’t include door jams. I’ve decided it’s best not to change colours. Will opt for either bumpers/fenders or entire truck at same colour. Thanks for the input.
