Does your Transmission Rattle like an old farm truck?

Mines primarily when clutch is in or its in neutral. I’ve heard it make noise over a speed hump while left in gear with no gas applied as i went over — but i think that was a different noise that just sounded similar

When i was considering the jeep, i figured on installing a spring to the clutch pedal to give it some resistance

 

Have you had this resolved? Any other comments from your dealer? Mine makes the same exact noise! I just bought it used and have on;y have it for a week.

 

Hey man, I know this is an older posting, but I was doing some research of my own and stumbled on this. My truck, 2017 sport with 6 speed manual trans makes some clicks and chatter when cruising at various RPMs. Sometimes it’s almost like the sound of trying to take off in second gear form a dead stop, that kinda clicky rattle that makes one shutter. Not all the time, doesn’t really matter the scenario, but I truly only hear it when at higher speeds. Bringing it in for the 40k mike service...aka waste of money for services I can perform on my own, but I’ll press the issue. Never makes noise when rolling I neutral.

 

yes my shifter rattles and my clutch creaks and I love it

 

you know the clutch is working when its creaking/squeaking!

 

Could be pinging, mine did that /a lot/ on factory tune, especially if i used 87 - which the owners manual recommends!!!!! Blarg

make sure you’re using quality gas too

 

Has the rattle been resolved? I have a 2018 MT Sport that does exactly the same thing...Planning on taking it to the dealer very soon.

 

They’re never going to fix it because they call it “normal” - a result of a metal shift rod moving metal parts

/I/ like to think of it as a design flaw, but tomato/tomato, right?

 

I understand that the manual transmission was new for the 3rd generation Tacoma.

 

noticed similar issue yesterday in my 22 OR with MT rolling in neutral with no load.

 

2021 MT - no rattle - the only noise i have is in the linkage (to be expected).

 

2022 MT, rattles clutch in, in neutral, no load. Figured it was just the linkage moving.

 

Same...just thought that's how it was.
