Well said… it’s obvious that when you have a greater amount of low end power that the differences between low and high doesn’t seem that big.

When coming from a tune that has 13 ft lb less and 8 HP less, the differences is going to be even greater! Go figure

I have been holding out on tuning my '19 because I have not been convinced the available tunes were appropriate for my needs or driving preferences. I had the TSB flash last year and it helped, but the Overlander 7 tune sounds like it might be the tune I've been looking for: something OEM-like that is suitable for tamer driving habits and potentially better for boat towing. I have reached out to the tuner near me and will report back.

Where I found the OTT7 advantageous for me over the stock tune was that low end power, I towed this thing on stock and it was struggling, up a minor hill was rubbish.

Holding the correct gear and having lower transmission temperatures for me was really important. Boat has a 65 gallon tank not to mention it’s 22 footer so she’s not light by any means especially loaded with fishing gear, coolers etc.

I don't remember the temp numbers off the top of my head...

Boat weighs 3000, fuel 400, trailer 1000, gear and crap (fishing equipment, misc boat tools already on board, coolers, ice) probably an extra 600. Looking at 5000ish? All estimates of course.

OTT is going to run lower TC1 and TC2 temps because they don’t play games unlocking the TC to make “power”, they actually increase HP and TQ on the low end which allows better towing with TC locked.

Just loaded up the KD Max pro+ tune yesterday. I have been running the Pro for a few months and it ran as the best tune to date. The + tune feels like I don't have to give it nearly as much pedal to get moving. I got on the freeway and was pleasantly surprised that the truck had more balls than the previous tune. I have the lite tip in with no jerkiness at all.
Smoth as butta and shifts as well.
Truck seems to run quieter as engine revs seem to be lower.
Running a completely stock Sport with stock Falcon tires.
    Happy camper.

I'm beginning to notice that guys with stock tacomas or close to stock favor kdmax vs Ott we are on they heavey or heavier end

Nah, my Tacoma is not too heavy or modded, and I definitely prefer Overland Tailor. A lot of it has to do with the throttle response for me. It's strong but smooth.

I'm sure what you feel is your honest opinion and it's right up your alley . It's great to hear that you or other owners found their kryptonite.

I'm confident that if and when I do get my regear I'm gonna have a total different opinion and view on all the tunes I have and tried . I'm all about giving the benefit of doubt . Honestly once I regear it's gonna be awesome to go through the library of tunes I've acquired in the past two years .

You know Toyota would be so much better if we knew they were listening to us and all we speak of about tunes. We should all get hired as engineers for Toyota's development

Only cool guys like you can tune your own truck.

Mat will no longer be selling individual kits (probably to cut down on the email traffic of inexperienced users)… he’s pushing this to the Pro Tuners to offer the kits… thusly having us be the trainers to help the general public instead of Mat.

Ahhh I just was worried about all the money put into this and for me to lose all ability to tune my own truck I would go crazy
