Who has integrated the stock FJ80 rear axle parking brake into the 1st gens parking brake? I know people have done it but haven't really seen any good links on how they did it. Help me please!

    Thank you

I thought I saw a guy that ran 2 cables from the pivot point, 1 to each side. I think they were Lokar(?) Cables. It's set up the way drum brake 1 ton rear axles are. The cables are push/pull and that means it doesn't have to be a straight line.

I saw a diagram for something like that on Ih8mud in a thread where a guy was converting the stock 80 brake lever to the tacoma in dash style. No idea why the swap to dual cables tho.

Maybe that's where it was. I would think that it would be easier to package and keep up out of the way. Maybe that's why?

No idea. I still have all my stock tacoma brake cables zip tied to the spare tire cross member under there. No idea if I'm over thinking it or not.

You might very well be overthinking it. Sometimes the K.I.S.S method is the best. Either way that's what I'm doing. 2 separate cables to the stock pivot point.

    Slander,
What exactly do you need for info?
I have a rear Diamond with discs and D rotor for parking brake. I modified things to make the PB work...
Let me know, I'll attach pics for you.

Hooking the factory cable up to the fj80 cable is what I'm curious about. I have all the parts arriving next week to dive into this.

I have all the parts and will dive into it next month. I'm prepping for some wheeling trips in March. Then I'll build the parking brake.

I'm thinking it will go on for the inspection and come right back off, too much crap dangling down and I would rip it off and damage it wheeling. Hell I already broke a bell crack in half on a rock

Touched on this a little bit, I think we're both in the I need a pbrake phase with using other toyota to tacoma adapters cables.
@Ritchie sent me a few pics from his Diamonds, have the same, also use
https://board.marlincrawler.com/index.php?topic=100581.120 which provides some good ideas as well. Either way everything i've seen besides the factory pbrake setup, most others need a two cable to 1 Y setup.

Finished this up, big disclaimer here, this may or may not be a "it needs to work one time a year to pass an inspection" type setup, so this probably won't work for daily use. However I did manage to get the factory Tacoma cable to reach the fj80 bell cranks. The brake works great, holds on my inclined driveway and will stall the truck in 1st.
    Anyway here are the pics:

    IMG_20220424_153510922.jpg
    IMG_20220424_153505639.jpg
I did have to unthread this all the way out, took forever, 20years of crap on the threads and I couldn't even use heat as my battery cable is right there and there are fuel lines.

I will also say adjusting the parking brake sucks. You are blindly fiddling with the adjust through a tiny hole and you can see anything.
