Has anybody used the bd4 cam version for a rear dash cam location?

I looked into it, but the video recording units that allow external camera input seemed very expensive for the functionality, and the resolution of these type cameras are not up to that of usual dash cams. So didn’t seem worth it in the end.

I’ve been looking into the motorcycle dash cams since they’re small enough. I just want to have a camera there for insurance purposes. I don’t think I need a 4K resolution cam. It would be nice but not a deal breaker if it’s not. People have been driving super crazy.

I looked at it waaayback and just wasn’t happy with the view from what was available. The dedicated solutions just seemed better (lenses, night/day, etc). Things have changed, but I can’t see where spending the funds on it is any cheaper than a reasonable cam setup (I went Blackvue). Many very good cheaper options too… Thinkware, etc.

Do you think something like this would work though? I’m still researching dash cams that can fit in that spot.

ZOMFOM Dash Cam Waterproof Recording Camera for Motorcycle, 3'' LCD Front and Rear FHD 1080P Waterproof Lens Wide Angle 150° with Wi-Fi, GPS, Wired Control, EIS and G-Sensor, Max up to 256GB https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0876MXGY4?_encoding=UTF8

As I recall, the hole was purpose built and was a snug fit. Unless you can confirm the diameter/length specs are the same, it may be futility/uncharted territory. You may want to look at the NMO which has a top hole you can exit/gasket. I recall someone looking at a hooded camera option for one.

Finally after a long wait I finally got it installed on the truck but not without the help from @daveeasa. I couldn't thank you enough for your hospitality and electrical skills. Your attention to detail and organizational skills are superior, it looks as if it is an OEM fitment. I'll be in touch soon as I would like to get the relay installed (@kmorgan3).

The brake light looks amazing. I was hesitant at first to purchase it due to price but after seeing the lights installed and how bright it is I am so happy I did. Also thank you @MESO for a great product. The handmade connector for the OEM 3rd brake light is perfect, no cutting or splicing wires needed. The fitment of each light is also very tight and uniform. But also, F-U MESO for how hard it is to feed those BD wires through those tiny caverns :) :) :)

@TheTacoMarine I didn't notice in the dark but you need these. Remind me next time, I have spares.

Well it’s been 8 months and the new cyclones that I never modified, just simply installed into the KC5 are now fucked, no cracks in the lenses but a tiny bit of moisture present inside and the boards are fried. I’m going try calling KC later today since warranty emails are completely ignored, and Taylor no longer seems to be an active member of the forums.

That sucks, I’m so afraid of this, did you get the v2 or v1 cyclones?(I think the v1s have the screws on the face)

V1’s and yeah it sucks, I’ve bought 11 cyclones over the years and 4 are completely dead. 2 of those 4 are from cracked lenses and 2 are not. 4 out of 6 of the first set I bought cracked there lenses but only 2 of them had damaged boards as a result.

I have @MESO map lights, dome lights, and puddle lights.. I have a older model rigid dual colour light bar, fog light, and side shooter spot lights.. I have KC cyclones in my brake light and under the truck for rock / another set of puddle lights.. and the only ones I’ve ever had an issue with is the damn KC’s.

All of our trucks at work use rigid lights (9 on mine), and I’ve had to warranty a couple old ones which wasn’t an issue.

KC can’t even acknowledge the warranty claim. I sent in one without receiving a confirmation that they got it and then tried again a month later with the same result.

mine all went out without cracks. then the lenses decided to crack. I've got the V2s and they are sealed so fingers crossed for better performance. I really need to get on getting them installed, it just started warming up

Got mine in the mail today. Should I try selling the v1’s and get v2’s or just keep them?
