My new Tacoma didn't come with a deck light on back of cab , the blanks are in the bed for the OEM bed lights and there is no switch on the dash for the bed lights if I install them. I was told at the dealership that they have started cutting corners on the wiring harness and not stubbing the wires behind the turn signal lights like they have in the past , not putting the deck light switch in the SR5 models unless by special order? can anyone confirm that this is in fact true before I start trying to dig under my dashboard for wiring that would connect to the switch if I install and has anyone checked behind the turn signals for the OEM wiring changes???

Okay, I got behind my rear lights and found the wiring for the Bed lights Stubbed off, installed my new LEDs in the blank positions. Now I got to figure out putting a switch in the dashboard for the lights. HELP ??

Well I see both post went unnoticed! Don’t worry this old man figured it out and all is well.

    Hi,
So, what was your solution to the Switch?
I just ordered a set of Toyota OEM LED Bed Lights myself for my 2020 TRD Sport, w/Access Cab.
Did you need to order a Dash Switch and a Relay Switch?
    Thanks!

As it turns out the dealership told me wrong information. I found the wiring was in fact stubbed off as many videos show behind the taillights. After popping out the area where the switch goes it’s rather easy to see the way the release and remove the blank and the wire plug is waiting to be pulled out and attached to the back of the switch. I am beginning to think that the dealership just didn’t want to install them or was planning to offer to do so at a huge price.
I only ordered the bed lights and the switch no relay required.

    Thanks for the information.

Do you have a link to what Switch to use?

    Thanks.

Good information. My 22 OR didn't come with the lights or switch either. I had the rear lights out today and yes the plugs are there for the lights, so I guess I need to order the switch and lights

Got my LED Bed Lights (Toyota OEM) installed the other day, went and ordered the needed Bed Light Switch (Toyota OEM), popped out the Switch Panel on the lower left of the dash, removed the blank off plate, and popped in the Switch. The relay switch is already there. The mating wiring plug for it is right below where the switch goes, in a dead socket. Pop it out from there, and into the switch. I turned it on, and voila the Bed Lights came on.

You can either have them come on w/the door lights, or simply do it manually, shutting them off when not needed, w/the positioning of the switch settings.

A very easy upgrade once you learn what is needed for the upgrade.

I've been curious if I could put bed lights in a 3rd gen access cab, but it seems to be answered here. I'm not a fan of messing with wiring unless I'm absolutely sure I got it right, does anyone know if there are any videos out there for this? Thanks in advance!

All you need is a switch, the plug in should be there under the dash and the pig tail plug in is already there when you remove the rear lights

    Hi,

Shiro213, I noticed that you have a 2019 Tacoma. This kit we're discussing here is for 2020+ Tacoma's.

You might check, but there was another kit specific for the earlier 2016 - 2019 3rd generation Tacoma's I believe.

I figured that out after I posted this. Lol Thank you! I think it is lame that the access cabs don't get any sort of bed lighting (not even in the third brake light) from Toyota.
