Time to change. Fluids ordered. About 67K miles on it. Tested it twice. Had researched a good bit and heard some had waited till they hit 100k. Think the directions books say 30k. Brake fluid was great.

 

Debadged the tailgate...went with the 80's style Toyota decal

 

Out of curiousity, what did you use to get the badge residue off? I debadged my truck awhile back and the residue edge of some of it simply won't go away, leaving me with a weird ghosted "Tacoma" on the doors and tailgate. I tried a heat gun, Goo-Gone, plastic scrapers, fishing wire, and some other cleaners.

 

I just used goof off pro strength. But honestly the ghosting is really hard to get rid of. I think you'd have to take a wheel to it and buff it out with different levels of compound to really get rid of it. Up close and personal I have a bit of the ghost shadow too. But it really is almost none existent. Try the goof off pro strength and don't be afraid to put your back into it

Took the seats out to install the TRD covers and did some cleaning

 

I've found that Meguiar's Ultimate Compound, a clean microfiber towel, and some elbow grease does a good job at removing the last bits of ghosting etc. It's very safe to use if you're just doing it by hand -- but still go easy and take your time.

 

are those test strips pretty accurate? I've never seen those before

 

I believe they are pretty dependable. Test strips were individually sealed inside. There is also a test you can conduct with a volt meter I read on here. Decided to go this route. Was prepared to do anyway as a preventative, this just confirms what I thought. I have not had any issues but the corrosion you'll never see. Plan on holding on to this one for awhile.

I used a heat gun and plastic scraper to get the foam off then Mineral Spirits to remove the last of the adhesive. It's also very important to wash before and after you debadge.

 

Picked up and reinstalled the SnugTop topper - Had it Line-X'd at 806 Desert Customs Off-Road in Lubbock TX.

Next Month I will be taking the truck to Amarillo TX to have the interior done in Katzkin XT (Xtra Tough) leather.

 

Moved my jack and thinking about buying different mounts.

 

Seems like a pry bar would make short work of that? Might be way stronger in person though

 

Finally got my Tacoma out for some long-deserved pics. Latest mod was the addition of a 4K dashcam (see last pic), hardwired so as to provide continuous protection.

Finally got the eag grille installed and wired up. Upgraded the rigid lights switch while I was at it. Next weekend, time to fix the overhead temp/compass... again.

 

After a zombie steel rod fell out of the sky and embedded in the front, I had a chance to make some cosmetic upgrades. Took the yellow highlight on the rims and used it for the grill, fog surround and rear bumper cover. Also had the fogs, grille marker, tailights and third light smoked. Had some fun with emblem overlays in the same yellow.
