TORSPD: NEVR

Well, too late on the rear portion of the frame boxing kit. So I'll have to get the mid section through JD Fab.

My DS carrier cross member has been completely changed, due to the 1 piece and being lowered. See if I can find a picture.

Looks like I need to peruse through their site again. Been a while.

 

Looks great! The boxed new section looks loads better/stronger than the stock sections it's welded to.

 

That one tiny section is at least. The tops of the OEM portions could use some plating to reinforce them, but that wasn't part of the scope of the mod at the time. Needed to have a place for the DS to travel, and add a loop in. Looking at that photo reminds me how many years have past since then.

Correct. I got nothing. Just want more boost then the blower can make. Well not more boost but flow. It’s in need for a change. They built bottom end needs more power lol p

 

My old Craftsman jack died a few weeks ago. Ordered one from Summit Racing that was in the budget and of a weight rating I wanted. Should have done more research, but I did not and this is what followed.

Received the jack in a near unusable form. Bent castor uprights.







As well as missing the bolt for locking in the jack handle.



Needed it to work for an upcoming job, so thankfully I had disassembled the old Craftsman and kept most everything that could be reused. I modified the casters to fit the hardware of the PT brand jack.



Had to sandwich stack the washers just to have enough clearance to roll the jack. Good enough to get by for the job, but wasn't meant to last.

The original bolt was just a tighten down style. Didn't like it. Didn't have it anyway. So adapted the Craftsman one. Spring loaded, for quick release.







Much to the nature of this jack's essence, removing that handle assembly created another issue.... one of the bolts on the side decided that it was time to shed its threads...



Fortunately again. I had kept those similar bolts from the Craftsman, and the shoulder portion was the same as these. However, the thread diameter was larger. So needed a 20mm tap, and purchased a Century Drill Co. reamer. Man that reamer is the shiz!



Still a little more to do on the Performance (Wanted) Tool jack. Which should be finished up by tonight.

The moral of this adventure with this brand, in my one and only experience, is that they are junk.

I would have been better off buying a Daytona from Harbor Freight. Or a much nicer and costly aluminum jack from somewhere else.

 

Why so many extra passes in that last one??

 

Sorry to see you had such issue with the one ya got. At least you can say you even modded your floor jack, gotta be some kinda bragging rights there

If you end up looking for something else, AC Hydraulic makes good stuff

 

Was going to add on the gussets that I had cut, but then just decided to enjoy playing with my new welder. Get a feel for it. This way as well, the whole of the area in question is thicker. Rather than just the perimeter of the gusset.

Bending the caster material back straight was being a pain in the arse. Cut it off and then it bent to my will. Muwahahaha.



When trying to figure out how to keep it properly spaced, I came across these knurled bolts. Which were from when I did the disk brake kit upgrade on two trucks. Couldn't have found a better bolt for the project. Slight press in required, and solid position.



Added on some gussets to them both, then back on they went. Better than new.





Practically a build thread for a jack. Sheesh.

Thought I would go straight to the master - where would you recommend I buy upgraded pistons?

 

I recommend CP or JE pistons. LCE or Brian Crower can get you either.
