@Up2NoGood @Grant83, please count me as a buyer on your next production run of 2nd Gen 2LO mods. I can pre-pay. I need this for towing in my 2014 6spd manual 4.0. It won't let me post on the thread because I don't have "50 posts of substance"

Nevermind, I was able to arrange a used purchase through another TW forum poster. Rec'd and installed my used 2LO unit today in no-external-switch configuration. It works as expected. Thanks very much for all the design & manufacture thought that goes into these units. The idiot-proof harness is great.

I know these units are scarce now but just wanted to give feedback - love this kit. At first I was like ehhh this is just a solution looking for a problem, but I use it all the freaking time. Whenever I need to drive super slow it's a boon to save my clutch. Beautiful design and so happy it's made in Canada, my home country, too.

It would be useful for off roading in slow and steeper terrain where you have traction but don't necessarily need 4WD. I was putting my truck into 4Lo in Canyonlands to keep the automatic transmission and torque converter temps down but I didn't really need 4wd in a lot of those spots.

I just needed to check back in about the OP and this mod. It is the best mod on my ride. It took me a year to install just because. And another year to use it once. But in the last couple of weeks for work, contractor, up a very steep drive with a hair pin turn at the top, this with a heavy load on. OMG, could not have done it without this 2-Wheel Low mod. Paid for itself over and over.
Thanks again. Foolish of Toyota to not have done this or optioned it.

sorry if I skipped over any answer

    quick try before finish reading

how does this work with FJ tcase?
Do they both work together? Can you do this first? Or upon FJ upgrade, do you take this back off and sell it?

    this seems easier.
I have an FJ case. But I think that job is a lot of work and still need little parts here and there. Probably gonna be a while before I get that done

thinking of doing this first in the meantime if that makes sense

anyone else done it that way?

    I’m guessing no
    Because this is electronic
And FJ I believe means deleting electronic, changing ADD, converting to all manual, with Tcase controlled by a shifter (one exists to allow 2LO with some Dremeling)

All the module does is when it's activated it tells the 4wd ECU that the ADD is locked (when it's actually not) so that it will shift the transfer case into 4 Low, since the ADD is not locked the end result is 2 low.
If your getting rid of all the electronics there would be no point in having the module installed anymore.
It would probably sell pretty quick if you decide to sell it, I still see people looking or them pretty often.

If you're headed down the FJ case path, and don't need 2lo in the short term, I would skip the 2lo module and just focus on getting the bits you need to complete the FJ case. Otherwise you're just tying up funds.

The module is more geared for folks who want 2lo but don't want to cut their truck and swap out cases. It keeps all the electronics and is completely reversible.

Hi Up2NoGood, It appears I missed the boat by years on the awesome 2Lo module you made. Any chance you might make another batch of these in the future? If so, count me in. Alternately, is anyone aware of one of these modules being available for sale somewhere, used? Very interested and very in need of a 2Lo mod. Just ten years late on the offer ... Thank you for any leads!

Keep an eye out in the 2nd Gen Parts Marketplace, they occasionally come up for sale in there.

Nah, not foolish at all. I have the module and it comes in real handy when I do use it.

Low-range puts out a hell of a lotta torque, even in 4lo you need to be mindful not to beat on it (hence the warnings about only using it in low-traction situations so wheels can slip and relieve excess stress). Shifting all that available torque to ONLY the rear driveline, instead of shared between front and rear, means you have to be really gentle with the throttle and clutch. Especially since the target use for the module is to reduce load on the engine/clutch in paved environments. If it were a factory option, it'd be begging the average user to twist driveshafts, break u-joints, grenade rear diffs, and snap axles like it was going outta style.
