    Hey everyone,

I was wondering what some options would be to add some weight on the front end of my Tacoma that preferably don’t cost a lot of money. I currently have the Eibach Pro Truck Lift Stage 1 and it has 742lb springs and is super stiff which is super annoying.

I’ve been told that adding weight to the front end will help but I currently don’t have the money for give up for a metal bumper and was wondering what are some ways I can cheaply add weight to the front end that would allow me to test it.

    Thanks!

You do realize adding weight reduces mpg right? This is pretty bizarre.

742 lb/in coil springs? Rly? How much weight are you expecting to add?

Yeah I’m aware, it’s just for testing purposes to see if they are still stiff with the weight of the anticipated bumper I may be getting in the future.

yeah, they don’t list the spring rate anywhere so I had to ask them directly. Roughly 150lbs.

Honestly, I’ve been debating just getting rid of the Eibach and changing for something like a dobinsons setup. I just want the option (like the Eibach has) to adjust the front once I do get weight to stay at 2” of lift in the front

I have a full Dobinson. If you have some weight..bumper, slider, topper or anything else it is the bomb. I would recommend it. You say you have Dobinson here and no one will give you crap.

I am running it with no weight right now on a 2wd and I love it. I am currently looking for a bumper

Awesome, I’ve heard a lot of great things about them. I’m looking at the 302 coils (if they’re ever back in stock) with the 220 extended travel shocks so it will be 2.5” in the front so when I do get a bumper it will be at about 2”

Do your coil overs have adjustable preload?

Yeah there are 3 notches, the 1st is no preload and I’m currently on the 1st notch.

Ok then you have flexibility to adjust your ride height after adding weight (or without using super stiff springs).

Yeah I was debating just changing out the springs to save some money, but according to Eibach you cannot use any other springs with the pro truck shocks

They will. That is too heavy.
However, if you want to add weight to the front, cover your passenger seat with a tarp and add several 50 lb bags to the foot well and maybe four bags to the seat. I think you can easily get 400-500 lb in there. Without doing moment diagrams I would think this would more than load up the front for maybe 200 lb addition you will get in the future.

Between you me and the other random internet peoples, while not recommended, any of the 2.0 coils might fit. You’d need to see what the free height of they are compared to what you have. IIRC, the Eibach have flat top and bottom of the spring. If the heights are the same it might work out. Keep an eye out for used springs and try those.
Not saying these would work and there is a lot to look at and into when choosing springs not recommended by the manufacture, since everything can be a factor- https://accutuneoffroad.com/product/king-3-0-x-14-x-600lb-coil-spring/

You sure everything is installed correctly? Not trying to sound like an ass but I have the Stage 1 on the first setting as well with the Eibach springs and its only slightly stiffer than stock I think it rides nice. Not harsh at all. Seems odd that yours would be "super stiff"

I mean as far as I can tell, I followed the instructions and have looked it over multiple times. The only difference is I had to use a spare bolt (same size just a tad short) for the lower bolt that mounts the shock to the lower control arm. Honestly I think it’s a couple factors, it performs great offroad but street or highway driving I can feel every bump seem like it’s hitting the chassis and and rattles me and passengers.

everyone is saying it rides a lot better than stock, so it honestly could be that I have something wrong.

Actually I do remember that I ordered the set preassembled from wheelers and they had one of the assemblies listed as drivers side, and I ended up putting it on the passenger because I pulled the other coil over out of the box first and already installed it but, correct me if I’m wrong please, I don’t think that the side of the coil over matters (passenger or driver)
