It’s funny you say that, I read up on TW before getting my truck and it seemed like everyone complained that the TRD exhaust was loud and unbearable. When I finally drove it home I was a little disappointed at how quiet it was. If I didn’t know any better I would have thought the exhaust was stock :notsure:

Yeah, it’s pretty quiet. I ordered mine with one. The URD midpipe doesn’t make it much louder, and I like that.

Old thread, but I guess I'm not the only one who likes this setup. Here's a clip of the URD Y and TRD catback. They've also added the TRD intake accelerate flow scoop piece and a drop in filter. I think it sounds perfect for those that want something slightly louder than stock and not overly obnoxious.

Here's another good clip comparing exhausts on the Tacoma. Some are 2nd gen and some are 3rd gen, but they're all marked by time stamp. I think the Borla S type sounds decent by itself as a catback. MBRP and Carven seem the loudest and raspiest to me.

This is my URD midpipe with a TRD catback.

The sound clip I should've made a long time ago, LOL!!

Dang so no rasp with this setup? I have the stock catback with the URD Y-pipe and i get the worst rasp sound between 2.5k-3k RPM. Its not even loud or droning just the rasp is sooo bad in that 500 rpm range.

the rasp is a project but it can be fixed. and if you do it right you can make the thing run better.

ahhh thats what I like to hear. I'm tempted to just cut my factory muffler off and put on a flowmaster 50 series or something and then dump it, as I planned on chopping exhaust anyways for clearance.

A little bit, but not much. Not enough for me to pay attention to.
