I have a 2017 Toyota Tacoma and want to install black inlays over the original chrome badges. Toyota has a blackout kit PT94883518002 but it only fits 2018 thru 2022 year vehicles. I called a dealer and they said the badge size must be different. I would like to stay with oem parts. Does anyone know if the badging on a 2017 tacoma is different that the newer models and if the blackout kit will fit?

I'd take the risk and buy them. I highly doubt they changed the badging between 2017 and 2018. The only thing that changed between those years was the addition of TSS.

These are overlays rather than inlays. The ones that are needed depend on the trim level of your truck. For example, the SR5 has "SR5" badges on the C pillars, as well as a "4x4" badge (if applicable) on the tailgate. The TRD lacks these, having only the "Tacoma" badges on the doors and "V6" on the tailgate. The Pro is different.

I went with these and just replaced the original badging. Don't need to worry about the fit in that case. Use painter's tape to mark the location of the old ones and replace with new ones.
