Can anyone post a review of their weather tech or husky floor liners for a 1st gen tacoma? Does anyone has a suggestion for the best floor liners for a 1st gen? Id like to have the high quality and function that is seen in many weather tech floor mats for other vehicles, but there doesn't seem to be many options for the 1st gen tacomas. Or should I just ditch the carpet? I had a 1992 4x4 that have a vinyl-like liner instead of carpet that made the floor mats slide around and I know people ditch the carpets sometimes.

I cant seem to change this from being in the 3rd gen area... sorry everyone, nubie here

I’ve had Husky liners in my ‘97 4Runner for probably 15 years and they’re dirty and old looking, but still in good shape (literally… they’ve held their shape perfectly). My 3rd gen 4Runner is from the same era as your 1st gen taco, so I’m sure they would work just as well for your truck. I have Weathertechs in my wife’s 2017 4Runner, and the quality between the 2 brands is pretty much the same. I remember I went with Huskys because they were a little less expensive at the time. My wife’s 4runner already had the WTs installed by the dealership when we bought it new.

Hey that's okay! I'm in the same boat... but with a 3rd gen (2019 TRD Pro). I bought some "Aries" floor mats from Wall mart. They are not as heavy, sturdy as I was hoping. They'll get the job done, but I won't get the same kind for the rear. I'd be curious about anybodies experiences with mats as well.

My truck didn't come with the TRD Pro mats, I was thinking of just getting those. They look pretty good...

Just an opinion here from someone who has owned both.

The Weathertechs that are custom "laser fit" to my wife's Sequoia were very expensive. They feel more like sturdy but flexible plastic to me than rubber. Definitely they do not feel like rubber. They're slippery - and not just on the top surface, but slippery underneath as well, so they do not stay in place. Especially the passenger front seat, which is always getting shoved way up by the feet. Very annoying.

I had the exact same experience with the WeatherTech mats in my Tundra. They wouldn't stay put. I couldn't understand what all of the hype was about. They seem overpriced and crappy to me. Yes, they're an excellent fit though. Got to give them that.

So I recently decided to get some Husky Liners. I like them so much better! They don't feel like hard plastic like the WeatherTechs. They feel like thick, heavy rubber. They're custom fit also. I like them so much that I just pulled out the WeatherTechs in the 4Runner and replaced them with a set of Husky's also. Most importantly, they stay put.

If you've had the factory rubber heavy duty Toyota floor mats in newer Toyota models, the Husky's are more like those, except thicker and deeper. The Husky's will hold more water/mud.

FWIW, so far the Husky's are keeping my carpet cleaner too.

Both companies are great to deal with, and both are made in the USA.
