What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

I didn't do anything to mine today except drive it but I did spy a loaded for bear 2nd gen at Taco Bell.

Can anyone give me clarification on the weight limit of the ARE overland camper shell?

I called ARE and she told me 200lbs but the website seems to contradict it.

 

I finally went and replaced the head unit on my 2018 with a Sony XAV AX5500, plus the Enfig factory mic replacement. First impressions:

Pros:
Carplay music and navigation beat the Entune system by a country mile
Onboard amp beats the stock by a bit
Customizable steering wheel controls means I can reset it so up and down control volume and left and right control track forward/back, which has always been a pet peeve that Toyota set it up the opposite way.
Phone calls sound much better on my end

Cons:
But on the other hand, the other person says the Enfig mic sounds about 15% worse than the stock mic (on par with the stock mic in my wife's 2016 Prius). I don't make many calls but that is a little disappointing.
FM comes in fine, but I am not getting AM reception at all and I am not sure why.

 

I did a thing. I've done a ton of smaller mods throughout the years, but since I paid it off last year, I was able to work on some bigger mods this year. I didn't need a huge lift so I went with a 2.5-3" lift. I think the Tacoma looks real nice in that range.

I use it as my daily driver but like to take it out on the beach and also go dispersed camping. The racks on the Diamondback are for a roof top tent.

The raised rear differential breather is a great DIY project. Thanks to TW I bought the parts and installed it. It was interesting to find muddy water residue in the tail light cavity from previous off-road trips. I think the taillight routing is a much better solution than those who go to the gas fill cap recess.

 

3rd Gen mod for today….Bought Marvin some sunglasses (Window Tint)

 

Possibly 550 lbs. "static/non moving" vs. 200 lbs. "dynamic/moving??"

Got a one week ban in World of Tanks for being naughty. Figured I would work on the truck. Installed a Guild Outfitters custom switch panel. If you go with the cut version like this - hacksaw blade FTW.

 

Looks real good. Where did you get it from? Also how do you like the front runner? Thinking of switching over from prinsu since the RSI smartcap won’t let the racks sit even.

 

Installed a cat protection plate to the truck today.

 

Added some side steps this week. Yita motor brand. Pretty nice like that they run the drop the whole length instead of individual steps.

 

I reached out to ARE and they basically summed it up to “whatever the rack can carry” because they don’t have published dynamic ratings.

Nice truck!

 

Installed Bilstein 6112's and 5160's with Icon AAL giving me a cool 2" of lift leveling my truck out nicely. Also got KDMAX PRO tune done. The tune is totally worth it especially if you got extra weight on the truck.

Next up is new tires. I wanna do 295/75 R16's. but i have no idea if i can fit them. Halp.

 

Spare tire mounted on new bumper . Just need to install jerry can mount.
