2012 Tacoma dash lights and brake question

2012 Red Tacoma TRD

Hello, I have a 2012 Tacoma 6cyl 4wd. Today the TRAC and Check Engine lights stayed on when I started it , and the brake pedal was awful spongy. The brake fluid reservoir was full to the max line. Are the two related? Any info or ideas on what to check will be greatly appreciated.
