But if I had a coupler like that and a left handed bolt, I’d be in good shape! That’s another option for me to look into!

Looks like an M8 fine thread or 5/16 fine thread, they are almost identical.

Cut the head off the bolt, turn it down enough to be a tight fit in the nut just a little bit and weld it. Just to center it up, it won’t have any threads on it to go in the nut.

Let me look at work tomorrow and see if we have a left hand tap. If we do and you somehow mess it up I’ll make you a new piece

Those screws look suspiciously like the ones you use for metal roofing...

Those definitely have a bonded sealing washer. Kinda smart though, water won't get inside the door.

If the guy is screwing a bar lock on his car door he probably is way past worrying about water intrusion...

This afternoon I sent a floor plan for a room to someone as both a pdf (that was labeled as being scaled to 1/8"=1'-0") and the AutoCAD file for the entire floor (which is obviously drawn full scale).

He emailed me back asking if I had a floor plan that has dimensions on it.

    He has a Ph.D.

In Civil and Environmental Engineering. You'd have thought somewhere in his education as a CIVIL ENGINEER he'd have learned about scales and CAD. :notsure:

Once you said " civil engineer", the rest was redundancy.
