Taco Vinyl Raptor Grill W/TSS

I like the look of this grill but now after reading all of this thread I'm not sure. I have a 21 Taco with TSS and Front Camera.

I guess until I hear better results on this grill I just might stay with my Nightshade grill.

We've also discontinued our Etsy as well as the DRL grille for any year above 2017 because that TSS Relocation Bracket we were using from AJT Design just wasn't cutting it.

I have this grill and love it. One thing I've been putting of though is the best way for a front camera mount. I have a Natika camera I want to install but have absolutely no idea what the best approach is going to be. I'm considering measuring up a bunch of stuff and trying to 3D print, but gods if there's an easier solution I will pay money for it.

 

Just wanted to hop on here and do some correction as well as some informing on how Taco Vinyl is operating today. There has been quite a few comments by @gumbeelee21 as well as others which I understand and want to validate but also offer some feedback as the Manager of Taco Vinyl.

In the past as a growing business, Brandon (CEO of Taco Vinyl) has always done his best to give the customers (you) the best product and experience possible but life and the insane demand that comes with running a business alone really took a toll on him and left a lot of things uncorrected and unfinished. Many of you may be accomplices of this and we apologize. We want to correct this and as of today we have a full scale team that works everyday to create and deliver the products and services you're needing. We also have a phone number that we're happy to talk to each of you on to troubleshoot or chat about builds.

We have exciting things in the works and working everyday to bring much of our manufacturing back to the United States. Our letters on our grilles have always been cut and painted professionally here in Idaho so just to correct that opinion. We also manufacture all our badging here in the USA and we're happy to show any of you that come to visit us here in Boise, ID.

However, that all being said we know past experiences may have been frustrating and we acknowledge that and want to apologize. We are looking forward to a better experience with each of you moving forward. We aren't perfect and continue to face shipping delays due to the insanity of the supply chain right now but we'll always do our best to make the situation right by you.

Just wanted to update this forum a couple of months after receiving the tacovinyl raptor grill, Brandon did end up sending me a TSS sensor he made me and it took care of my problem. Also the new manager from Tacovinyl who made this post that I am quoting personally contacted me today and ask me if there was anything he could do to remedy my problem with my purchase. I told him that they had already sent me a TSS sensor relocator and that fixed my problem with the TSS error and I should have updated this thread. He also offered me some free swag from tacovinyl which I declined because they had already fixed my problem. I just wanted to thank him for taking time and reaching out to me and seeing if there is anything else he could have personally done. So a big thanx to him for that and again tacovinyl took care of my problem..thanx again tacovinyl for caring enough about your customers to contact them personally!!!!

 

So what is the new verdict on this grill? Is it worth buying? I kind of like the looks of this one but after reading the reviews in this thread I'm not so sure. Does anyone have any recent experience with this grill from the last few months - year with the TSS sensor to verify that it functions as it should. Also are the letters still just stuck on with 3m tape that could possibly fall off? Any help is appreciated and pictures please. Looking at getting TACO for my Army Green. Thanks!

 

It ended out working great forme after I got the TSS sensor working correctly. I love the look of the grill and I am glad I purchased it. If I have to do it over again I would definitely purchase it again. So as long as you can get the TSS sensor to work you’re in good shape. Hope this helps

 

What about the letters? They are just held on with 3m double sided tape? Wouldn't they eventually fall off?

 

I'm going on 3 years with this grill and no issues with the letters.

$6 3M VHB 100x200mm~ (4" X8") Double Sided Foam Adhesive Sheet Tape 5952 Automotive Mounting Industrial Grade Very High Bond 5952 (1 Sheets 100x200mm)

3M VHB tape is some pretty amazing stuff as long as the surface prep was done before applying it. Also zero issues with the TSS.

 

The letters are definately not going anywhere, they are on there tight. It all comes down to the tss sensor..they dont include the metal brackets anymore and those are the ones that worked the best for the tss sensor relocation….if u get one of these grilles u will probably have to get a tss relocator from ajt designs thats what my buddy had to do at least

 

That sucks it doesn't come with the bracket anymore. I've never had an issue with mine.

 

For $400 dollars it should work as designed. Not have to spend more money on something else to make it work.

 

I've had mine for a good 2 years.
The original bolts rusted right away, but I swapped them for quality stainless ones and haven't looked back.
I haven't had any sensor error messages beyond in heavy rain or a snow storm where the snow piled up on the sensor and front of the truck.
The letters came attached with 3M tape, but I added a few dabs of gorilla glue and they are all still there. Car wash approved.
All in all, I'd buy it again. Plus, it's not the bro pro grill on every second Tacoma around here
