I just got served an ad and hadn't seen these before. It looks like the measured lumen output is higher than the sport ss3 pods but the cd rating is lower. Being comparable in performance it gives a cleaner looking stock option so I'm curious of the community's opinion! Which one would you prefer and why? Elite vs SS3 sports

It's literally a toss-up. I do like the CRISPY cutoff that the Elite series offers at that price point, but that said I have had experience with both the Elites and SS3 Sports and they are very similar in terms of cutoff on the road. Both are pretty sharp. If you like the "OEMish" look then the Elites are a great option. We have a bunch of folks who have pre-ordered them from us already, an they should be shipping soon.

I supposed the draw of the elite series, too, is the backlight you can wire into your DRLs or side markers if you have halogen projectors.

You can now buy backlit SS3s as well. The wiring plug-ins are exactly the same.

I'm thinking about getting some SS3s in amber. What is the backlit option, and does anyone have a picture of what it looks like? I saw that it adds $20-30 to the cost of the lights. Is it worth it?

Anyone receive their orders? If so how do y’all like the fogs?

    Curious about an upgrade

I'll let folks who have installed them chime in, but I can confirm that all orders shipped quite some time ago now, and we even have some in stock here at Hotshot Offroad :D

The gen3 Tacoma has 2 mounting screw locations per housing from the factory but the lower two unused mounting brackets on each housing (indicated by red arrow below) seem ripe to add an additional 2 screws.

I don't see much discussion on this, but it seems like adding a couple more screws with washers to provide the appropriate spacing would make sense. Is there a reason to not do this?

Update: Initially installed these April 15th. As of this morning I noticed my passenger side, amber “backlight” is out.

Checked underneath the vehicle, nothing is loose, cut, crimped.

    Kind of a bummer….

Did you conform that you have power going to the backlight circuit? If you do, then contact DD Customer Service. Great people.
