I bought a locking gas cap before heading off for a 5 day road trip. On the return trip, the check engine light came on and a little while later, when I tried to use my cruise control, it didn't work either! Has anyone else experienced issues after switching to a generic locking gas cap? It seems like more than a coincidence that both of these issues happened AFTER switching to the locking gas cap.

This is fairly common. When the EVAP system detects an issue from an improperly sealed cap the CC and some other features don't work. I'm not sure why, but swapping the cap back should fix you.
