Just a thanks for posting this. I did 5100’s with 884’s today on my 2012 TRD OR. Did the icon add a leaf in the rear with 5100’s too.

OP used photobucket and lost the pics. Do a search for Tacoma shock replacement on youtube. That will help you.

Has anyone used the harbor freight spring compressor to remove the springs? I've used the other type that has 2 hooks on each end, but I hate those.

For anyone wondering. The spring compressors from HF worked great.

How does the coil spring procedure differ for a 1st gen 2wd 5-lug? It was mentioned a couple times in this long thread but some links and pics are gone.

The FSM basically has this procedure plus more steps after, which seems to be oriented around removing the LCA to replace LCA bushings.
    1. remove shock
    2. compress coil spring
    3. remove stabilizer bar
    4. remove LBJs and LCA
    5. remove strut bar
    6. remove coil spring

I don't know that means removing the LCA and LBJs is necessary for the coil spring to come out? I don't want to do those. Does compressing the coil spring the right amount lift it off the LCA so it can come right out?

Here are pics of passenger side.
