Can't have my phone in the facility, and I'm not always at my desk so I have a pager.

Manfred Mann made it famous -- Bruce Springsteen wrote it and had it on his first album, Greetings from Asbury Park, NJ (1973). Somewhere in the archives I have that album (original vinyl) along with about 500 others that I haven't played in 20 years...

Wire nuts, rubber HV tape and covered with Scotch Super 88 got me uncounted thousands of hours of reliable service, never had a call back. Some times old ways are best ways.

I was young (and hadn't had all the optimism beat out of me yet) when I first got into Maintenance and approached my first service call to the Ladies rest room (The Office no less) with quite a bit of excitement -- after all just what do they do in there (in pairs) and what are they giggling about...

Well friends, it was quite a let down -- aside from the absence of urinals it was just like the gents.

After you have laid on the floor in 1/2 dozen Ladies rooms the novelty pretty much wears off.

 

At the way back job the night man had a pager. He just touched a screwdriver to a lug in a 480 disconnect box (that he had verified was dead) when the pager in his left shirt pocket went off -- in the vibrate mode.

With proper stimulus an adult male can indeed levitate.
