    Yup, home heating oil.
There are some garages around here that use used motor oil, I don't know what the difference is in the setup for those furnaces though. They mainly save it from customers oil changes and have a supply source, for a homeowner it may not be that easy to get the amount needed for a heating season.
Then there's fuel oil, kerosene, and diesel fuel, all similar but different.
I do have a lot of less expensive stuff that's an option, it's called wood!

So, for me, break up is officially underway...Kristi has relented to have her tires swapped over. Don't get more official than that in my world. :)

That is really not bad. Especially, if it's covered.

Another Jury Summons in todays mail...I'm not sure I like popularity.

I think my favorite phrase has to be "custom fit for your truck"!

    20220429_134155.jpg

I think you know what I'm up to by now.
Well, they do say some trimming is required. And the molded shape is somewhat impacted by the rubberized backing I ordered. Truck should be like the Cone of Silence. WHAT? Not, the Cone of Silence, Max!

    Yes!
At the time I thought "these folks are on a limited income" or "they don't understand times have changed" -- funny how old 55 or 60 seems when you are 12...

Looking back they were just cheap people who saw no issue taking advantage of a kid too shy and too dumb to ask for a fair wage.

I don't know what year you are talking about, but my first job had a $1.67 minimum wage. Before I got that real job I worked for a lot less. It was HARD to make a buck as a kid. But it taught me something...

The lessons were more important than the money.

A residential style oil burner can be modified to burn used engine oil however a residential furnace or boiler is not compatible with it. Engine oil burns dirty and is inconsistent, even dedicated waste oil burners usually take a lot of maintenance.

Part of the cost of heating oil is the reliability (purity and consistency) of the product, a well tuned oil burner will probably run all winter with no problems.

Gotcha beat. first job after my paper route, I earned $1.25 hr union wages. Then after the Navy, I earned $2.25 hr union wages. Took a cut to get a better job at $2.10 hr non union. Finally, got a job with a National big name Corporation, earning enough to get married on, at a whopping $2.635 hr union wages. Better not say how I feel about unions.

I mentioned working for Dr Monk as a 12yo 'til I turned 16yo. I don't remember exactly how the first wage negotiation session was initiated, but I recall the discussions sitting in his kitchen. IIRC their were three. Started at $2 an hr as a 12yo; $2.25 as 13yo; $2.50 as 14yo; and finally $2.75 as 15yo. Then when I turned 16yo, he arranged my interview with the manager of the supermarket I worked for until I graduated HS and joined the Air Force. 28 years later, from the supermarket interview in 1981, when I retired from active duty in 2009, I reflected back and realized how carefully Dr Monk had orchestrated my education as a member of the American workforce, and as a man. Many of my lifeskills are a direct result of his kind hearted efforts. I was sad to discover he had passed 2 yrs prior when I reached back to thank him for the difference he made in my life.

RIP Dr Clarence Monk, I am forever thankful you were a part of my life.

Oh, 1981 at the supermarket on Forest Hills Drive in Richmond, VA, starting minimum wage was $3.25 an hr for a bagboy.
In 1983 when I joined the Air Force, I had worked my way back to the produce dept and my hourly wage was $7.25.

    :hattip: ... sorry so long.
