So while its still a little ways out, would it be beneficial to try and get a planned route set up for at least one of the rides? I can make a trailforks route and send it here to see if it would be worth tweaking and altering to better fit what everyone wants to do - or do people prefer to wing it during the ride?

I tend to over plan with the understanding things change during a ride, but if we have an anticipated loop set up people can see the total length and elevation climb. Pending the weather on that Saturday, I was also thinking it may be good to do a morning ride (shorter length) then go for a longer haul in the afternoon if people are up for it.

I have several rough routes that I regularly ride, they're all just framework, but I think we're good on that front.

Buying one the 15th or so. That's when bonuses hit. Along with new tires, CV axles and a bunch of other misc maintenance stuff. Plus likely an RTT so I can start a facespace page and tag companies to try and get free shit and "offroad" on maintained gravel roads followed by a drone.

Pretty sure the Salsa I posted before. Idgaf if 29er is not playful or whatever nonsense. It's function first is going to be for the adventure race I'm doing this summer, and anything to ease riding 50-60 miles of trails is way more important.

Here's an example of a typical ride that I put together on the fly. At the end where we rode 114 was only because the parallel trail, New School, was still closed today.

Take a nice easy approach and just spin a low gear, the climbing isn't that bad.

There's a bike lane, but there's also a climbing trail that they'd prefer you take instead of the road. I'm a bigger fan of the trail, having spent years climbing the road.

All things considered, that's probably a light day of climbing for that place.

Yes it was, you get it. That's 2.5 miles of climbing loaded up near the front of the ride and from there it's mostly cruising and downhill. There's no avoiding climbing here, so I try to load it toward the beginning of my rides while the legs are still fresh.

Starting in the center of town most of the time means a climb up. As an idea to throw out there, here is a ride I did last year that I would like to do again if we can make something work. Don't care how long it takes, but it does require a shuttle (one to the parking lot at Burke Mountain Hotel) and end up downtown, but it's not a mellow ride. May really depend on the weather, but use one day to do the Darling Hill side and take a few people who are up for it and do something like this?

With something like this and three cars, the option exists to leave one with water and supplies at the base of Black Bear, and allow anyone to bail there if they want as well.

Note: I didn't have the legs at the time to do the entire Haul Road climb back up to Stormin Norman - but this route still lets you run Black Bear without needing the full 800' climb as you enter the high side. There is an offshoot half way up to skip Stormin' Norman and meet up at the connection point if the jelly legs start happening.

That climb at mile 15 is the one that's really going to hurt. 300' in half a mile, oofda.
