New Tacoma dealer installed lift

Wife is thinking she wants LT 285 on her new 22 Tacoma TRD Sport longbow, what are guys running for lifts to fit the LT 285. We will run the factory 17 inch wheels. Don't want to go spacer lift. Most likely need new upper control arms as i was thinking 2 inches up front and 1 inch inch in the rear, if that works for the LT 285.

To clear 285/70r17 with stock wheels you’re looking at 3” in the front and usually anything 3”+ you’ll want aftermarket upper control arms.

 

Hit or miss if they (285's) are going to work. Some get it to work others don't (rubbing) cab mount chop is needed. Plus wheel spacers with factory wheels (+25 offset) will rub UCA's without them.

FWIW if you do a cab mount chop it will void your frame replacement warranty.

 

I'm running eibach pro kit on the lowest setting in the front and a 2 inch block in the rear. With this set up I got just under 2.5 inches in the front and 2 inch in the rear. 265 70 17 BFG Ko2's on 17x9 trd 4runner pro rep wheels. It rides great and my stock upper control arms were able to get my alignment where it should be.

 

Maybe going with 265 70 17 might be better and do a 5100 1.5 inch up front and 1 inch in back

 

Trd lift kit. Sema wheels. 275/70/17 falken wp. No rubbing, no need for new UCAs or CMC

If I went 285s, I would have ran into problems

 

What aspect ratio? 70 to 75 aspect ratio will make all the difference in the world. I have a 2019 with the with stock UPC arms, no CMC chop, 285/70-17s, the Eibach Pro kit with ICONs add-a-leaf (51100). I removed the front mud flaps and did some minor fender well plastic bending. On rare occasions do I hear one of the front tires rub, on or off road. The offset of the wheels is what causes many people problems - check with a local off road or tire dealership forr what works best.

 

Anybody have the factory lift kit with 265 70 17 tires and stock wheels, want to see what it looks like. Possibly in a black trd sport 4 door long box. We had to switch from Army Green to Black or wait 8 to 12 months for another truck in Army Green.

 

I have the factory lift, but decided to go with 285s. Very slight rubbing on the cab mount, so did a CMC. No more rubbing.

 

We went to the dealer today and finalized the deal, went with factory trd lift, trd pro 4 runner wheels, 275 70 17 bfg ko2 and trd skid plate. Already have the demon brackets and just about to order the total chaos bed stiffners

 

Eibach Stage 1 kit inbthe lowest setting I think 2.5" front and 1" rear block. I have 275 70 17 KO2's On the 17" SEMA TRD Pro Wheels, minor rubbing onnthe mud flaps. Trimmed them a bit and good to go.

 

When you order all that stuff from the dealer, you still pay for all the stuff you’re replacing (the stock wheels, tires, shocks), but you don’t usually get those parts unless you specifically ask for them. I get why people buy the dealer lift (I wouldn’t do that personally and I think it’s a huge rip off for what it is, but I understand why some people do)… But why not get the tires and wheels after the fact from a cheaper source, and then sell your stock wheels and tires for $1000 or so and recoup some of the cost?

 

Off the subject, but that's a cool grill. Never seen one like it and I'm in a huge Military town.

 

I'd consider the 33" 255/80/17 pizza cutters.

 

Thanks. Company called 300 Industries. It's subtle enough that it sort of blends with the truck.

 

Not sure why more don't go this route. You lose a whopping .4" on the width, but have none of the issues of 285's.
