Damage is Damage. Maybe time to get an Attorney now that the inspection has stated any type of Damage.

Just noticed this thread and as a 42 year casualty insurance agent (recently retired) you have no shot with your auto insurance as the policy excludes mechanical failure. Best of luck!

They are on the record for stating there is no damage. I believe they will want their loaner returned today and this will turn the heat up now. Your patience is now at the wall and you are at a decision point.

I had just left the dealer getting the oil changed in the 18 and a salesman called wanting the truck and he asked if it was for sale. I told him anything was for sale. He ultimately made me a deal I couldn’t say no to.

Well there are a lot of opinions. I’d go with an independent Toyota detailed inspection or say fine I’d like the new one on the lot. You have time to figure out what your truck in perfect condition is worth. Focus on the cost to trade in for a new one.

    is this resolved?

Depends, many times their insurance doesn't cover dealer negligence. The dealer ends up paying out of pocket.

I'd be real careful with this salesman if already wanting to make you a deal you couldn't refuse. You could end up with another new truck thats had some issues already....a potential lemon.

If it were me the truck would need to go, I’d be to worried about every engine noise I’d hear, just not worth the hassle. You seem knowledgeable about trading in, I’m sure you can work out a fair deal

And by ‘fair’ deal that would need to mean trade in for new equivalent truck with all fees covered.

I’m not quite following. I assume your truck that this thread was created for is a 2021? Your last post mentioned 18? As in 2018? Then a salesman calls about the truck you are talking about or your truck?

    Totally confused.

I expect that they'll be asking for the loaner back at the time you receive those "official results" from their diagnostics. Your patience and respect couldn't have gone unnoticed, but if you haven't already, its time to form your offensive Plan A and Plan B. I think we're all getting the feeling that they're hours away from sticking you back in your (potentially, but very likely) damaged truck. As other experienced techs have stated, you shouldn't be satisfied until you've seen parts on a bench, and a real verification of the parts that could have truly been damaged that a scope isn't going to show. I'd also be weary of having your friend check it out at this time, before seeking legal counsel. Wouldn't be hard for Toyota to place blame on him for any "not approved" work on the truck. If an attorney gives you that go ahead, different story; but its very possible they'd have a preferred mechanic if they wanted you to go that route. Hope it doesn't lead to that, and I get the feeling you'll be okay with a fancy warranty offer, but I hope you won't settle for any less than what's rightfully owed to you.

I’d bet my house that the dealer and their tech’s idea of ‘significant damage’ and my idea of significant damage aren’t even in the same ball park.....

It’s starting to sound like they’re just gonna roll the dice and try and pawn you off with a huge warranty and some free oil changes and hope that the engine lasts....

Wow 30 pages already; lots of people hoping for the best. If nothing comes of this, you could always create and sell some Rannyhill decals and stickers. It'll be the official emblem of "I do my own work now"

INSPECTION REPORT: Cause of leak found to be oil filter housing oil seal to be cut. All remaining oil drained from truck then oil poured through engine to see if any metal shavings present none found. Engine refilled with oil no error lights displayed and no noise or smoke detected. Thoughts?

A week's wait FOR THAT? I was expecting a lot more detail and a thorough inspection from that dealer especially after OP waited patiently.
