The rear axle bearings are noisy above 70, and the “beat” gets to be annoying so have wanted to get them replaced. The commute was 90mi each way, but no longer! That means I don’t have to listen to it each day, but also means $$ has become less easy to spend. When I’d checked a shop rate awhile back, it was going to be North of $1,200.00 for both. I have had trouble finding a YouTube on the 5 lug axle replacement, as every search ends up at 4 Whl drive trucks. Looking at the job, wheel of, drum off, I think I am capable to get them out, and back in again and bleed brakes etc. The actual bearing replacement is my question here:
I see a tool on eBay (photos) for the job. Thinking I would get that, and was hoping someone here would tell me if they have done rear axle bearing replacement on a 2 Whl drive, 5 lug truck. Does that tool look correct for the job?
I have looked at the 2nd Gen Tips, Mods & More
But do not see a section on the rear axle bearing replacement. A you tube would sure be nice!

Got a lot of stuff lol
So while I haven't personally done or seen a 5 lug wheel bearing change, I can say I've taken apart both a 5 lug and 6 lug axle to try to swap them. I can say that the shafts and outers appeal to be the same bolt pattern and I almost did the swap if it weren't for the shafts being a slightly different length. The axles do also disassemble the same.

Not the exact answer I'm sure your looking for but I do feel like the a tool that should work for a 6 lug should work for a 5 lug. If you do decide to do it let us know how it goes
