    This build is sweet!
I just got back into the Toyota gang w/ an '03 DCSB.
Out of curiosity, did those old steelies clear the brakes fine? I see conflicting info on it, but you seem to have ran them fine, let alone on 35"s!

Thanks! And yea no issues with the steelies. I ran them with and without spacers and they cleared the tundra brakes without issue. The backspacing/ offset was perfect. I believe they were a 16x8 4.5”BS.

It is an 04 sequoia axle. “Borrowed” the idea from @cbechtold . I liked the idea of factory discs in the rear a with the wide WMS, for a good low price. keeps the budget in the right range. Fits in nicely with some upcoming plans once the motor has been gone through

Still semi float and needing an air locker right? Bigger ring gear like the fj80's? I remember hi talking about it in his build but I gotta dig it all up again.

Yes and no, its a 8.4” non E lock diff. Same diff used in most tacomas, tundras and some T100s

Nice! How much wider is this axle? And what else do you need to change, to make it work on the truck?

I measured about 67" WMS fully assembled with brake rotors. internet says 66.75 that would put it at 6" wider that stock axle. still learning a bit but from what I have been told and/or researched so far I'm gathering the following
    Assembly
    • spring perches
    • U-bolts of course
    • Shocks
    • shock mounts & hoops (wider axle means I can mount shocks outside the frame)
    • Regear (match my 5.29s current)-w/ locker
    • Hydro bumps- Because racecar
    Brakes
    • MC and booster from a T100 (1ton)
    • Manual BPV
    • rotors pads
    • Hoon Handle?:notsure:
Not putting too much focus on this yet. I'm getting ready to pull the engine soon for rebuild

Solo claims 14” but Im hearing I can probably squeeze out a bit more. Just need to be careful with axles and steering binding. If I get their fab spindle and steering upgrade later on down the road the numbers get better

Right on! Those fabricated spindles would help probably achieve that, especially with RCVs and heim steering. I think to get the full 14" out of that kit, you'd need to cut the factory coil bucket and build a shock hoop to move the coilover up to maximize the uptravel. I know the MCM kits and solo kids are different, but I needed an 8" short body coilover to get the most out of my kit.

If we get that far I might as well sell this kit and get their XLT race kit and shove a 10” coilover in there:bananadead: From my talks with them over the phone, the limiting factor will always be the axles. Im not really aiming for max travel. Just something I can jam around in the desert with and get me to the good spectator spot

Good progress tonight. Motor is out so I can prep the frame for coil bucket braces and replace the destroyed motor mount perch. Added bonus i can refresh the engine, and reseal the front diff.
    Few snapshots of the destruction
