As the title suggests, I may have scooped up a real POS junker car to daily drive. The engine is strong, the car is ugly AF, but I see potential. Lets just say the easiest way to put it is the vehicle sat for a while, leaked in a few places, and the entire interior is stained with who knows what. After an entire weekend of filling up an entire outdoor garbage can, bug bombing, vacuuming, carpet cleaning, vacuuming, carpet cleaning, vacuuming, and drill bristle brush/soapy water treating the entire inside of the vehicle, it looks presentable again! However, as you'd expect, water damage/possibly smoked in/previous mold/mildew/whatever else stains leave a little bit of lingering odor.

Outside of burning the vehicle down, or driving off a cliff, what are some suggestions for water damage type smells? Its surprisingly not completely unbearable, but if I'm gonna drive it every day, I'd like it to be as enjoyable as possible! Obviously fixing any leaks, ridding the vehicle of anything holding water, but after that, what's next?

Using an ozone machine is the best way to eliminate interior odors. My son is a sales manager and that's the only thing they use on used cars that have smoke and other odors.

I would certainly check that the pad under the carpet isn't wet. That would be a continuous breeding ground for mold.
