I am hoping someone can help me with 7 pin wiring on my 2019 SR5. The photo on the left is the cover over my 7 pin receptacle and the photo on the right is of my standard wiring harness. The part that has me confused is on my truck the receptacle is keyed at the 3 o'clock position and the standard wiring is set up to be keyed at the 12 o'clock position. It looks to me as though it will change by two positions. Green will now be + positive, red will now be right turn/stop ECT.IMG_4052-2 copy.jpg

What is happening, is that you are looking at the trailer plug from the wrong direction.
When looking at the trailer plug, you need to be looking at it inverted. As if you were plugging it in.

    It looks correct to me.

@caribe makaira can probably explain it better.

    @TnShooter
Thank you for the info. I feel a little foolish for not figuring it out but am glad I asked before cutting wires.

The notch in the plug is the reference. The trailer connector I inverted the view so you can see the relation of the pins. If you still are unconvinced, test each pin to function of both side, vehicle and trailer.

I just happened to be sitting on my tailgate waiting for my dad, just checked and it has power with the key in the run position only.

Thank you all. Any idea if there is a constant hot 12v+ available in the rear area? I'm trying to tap in an LED dome light in the cap.

There's nothing that I'm aware of.
Assuming the truck in question is the 2013 in your profile information I see 2 options:
A:Remove the BATT CHG relay and jump pins 3 and 5 together to have constant power at the trailer plug and changing the 30A BATT CHG fuse out for one appropriate for the size wire you run to your light (no larger than 30A).
B:Run your own wire from the battery being sure to use the appropriate fuse for the size wire you run.

New guy here. I have read this thread and have a couple questions for you guys. My 2016 Tacoma doesn't allow the turn signal or brake lights to work on my trailer when connected. The running lights work fine. I have checked fuses and relays that I could find and everything looks good. Is there a module that I may be missing? Could it be a ground issue? I don't really know where to start and would appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction.

I wish I could help more. The link I sent above is all I have.
I don’t have the diagrams for the connector and their location.
If you had that, it would help cut down on diag time.

    Good luck:thumbsup:

I have a four-wheel camper now, so I can't use my rearview mirror, I am not interested in an LED mirror combo, so I want to connect a rear view mirror to my JVC After market head that has a backup camera Video-in. Rather than have the camera only work when backing up, I want it to work with a switch too, so I need power when the truck is on, rather than only when the backup lights are on.

Here is my thought, a switch that when in the off position turns on with the back up, and in the on position will allow me to see what is behind me.

    1) Is anyone using a nice after market switch or can you suggest which toyota switch to use?
    2) My thought is that in the on position it would connect to the power when the truck is on,
    3) when off the the reverse trigger on the head unit.
    4) Connect the power and ground on the 7pin

If anyone has any thoughts, other than your batt shit crazy please let me know them. :)

    thanks.

Aftermarket Head Unit usually has/needs a back up circuit "trigger" so the anytime view can function.
Your added switch (SPDT) would be a duplicate of the aftermarket head unit feature.

I see that. My goal it to have a switch so I can turn it on when driving down the road. I thin a three position toggle switch, up is turn on with trigger, and down it turn on.
    thanks caribe

This what I am thinking with one connection being the trigger and the other being the power so I can leave it as a backup camera, and then when driving down the road turn it on to use as a rearview "mirror". Does anyone know if the trigger is a 12v connection?
    Single-Pole Double-Throw SPDT
With one pole and two throws, the SPDT switch has three terminals — one common input and two outputs — and is suited for on-on or on-off-on applications. When it comes to SPDT type switches, MGI products typically consist of ON/OFF/ON and (ON)/OFF/ON switches. It should be noted that the throw-count does not necessarily relate to the number of positions on a switch; ON/ON function is a valid SPDT, and so is ON/OFF/ON/OFF. As long as there are two outputs for which current to flow, the switch is of double-throw type.
