I am waiting to hear back from my mechanic doing my suspension install. on this question. He is doing the ECGS Bushing install as well.

Do I need to order the axle seal on this? When is it required?

I always replace the axle seal when doing the ECGS bushing.

I disagree with replacing it. If it's not damaged, leave it be. I've done quite a few ECGS bushings on several friends trucks and never replaced the seal. None of them have leaked or had issues. The only one that I've had leak, is one that the owner replaced the seal on. He tried 2 different seals and finally got it down to a minimal seep.

If it's undamaged, why replace it? What year is your truck?

I certainly would buy one and keep it on hand, in case your existing seal is damaged.

Similar scenario been waiting for nice weather to knock out my bushing i bought the seal just in case but may not replace if the original looks good im at 94k miles on a 2014 and really don't wanna do the job twice cause of a leak.

It is a 2021. Honestly I don’t know much about them. My mech did get back to me and he said order it. I did and when he does the work I’ll ask him about it if it needs it or not.

maybe he asked me to get it “just in case”
