Take a free tranny any day. There is always a chance of failure, even in the highest quality of equipment.

Be thankful that they are not fighting you and self ID'ed the bad syncros.

The 6 speed is very particular about total clutch disengagement it's the way they are but it is not because it has bad synchros it's because of the driver or clutch disengagement they are jerking your chain if it has play in the clutch pedal as you explained it is the issue that needs to be fixed.

Just curious. Are you 2nd Gen? I didn't think that there were any 3rd Gen SR5 MTs.

I said it earlier though, the accumulator can mess with shifts. 2nd Gens have them also. That is where I found the basic info.

We have filed grievance with Toyota Let's see what they come back with. If they don't replace the truck I'll dump it for something else but not a Tacoma.

I get that it is your own situation, but you want to dump the truck over a squeaky clutch and a new tranny? I don't think you are going to be any happier in the alternatives?

Appreciate your opinion & yes may not be happier with replacement tranny & clutch assembly or going to another truck manufacturer. The point is getting a truck that is not full of drive train problems which I'm not happy about nor have the confidence in reliability. Thanks again for your time.

That is understandable. Let us know how things go after the work.

Just curious as you have a 2017 Pro in your avatar, was that a similar or different experience?

If the free play comes back different that the first try, at least toss a wrench at it at home and then go from there? It is just a jam nut and a twist of the master cylinder shaft.

Sorry I will change my avatar & no did not have any problems with that truck. Only reason I changed Tacomas was family did not want to drive 6 MT I'll keep you posted.
    Thanks Alex
