Good to hear! Wife & I went from an 2003 Pathfinder to the Tacoma. The Toyota Safety sense, hood scoop, and info-tainment system was a learning curve from a 18 year old vehicle. It's all good and we love the truck even more now. Enjoy. We did the OEM Tonneau, locking tailgate, bed mat, bed lights, mud flaps and running boards. One size up A/T tires. Very happy.

    Congratulations. My original eta was also 3/28. It was changed a few times after that to the first few weeks in April, and now they say 6/10. (White pro manual);

you can’t. Prior to covid, dealers can request a “preference” which may or may not be honored by Toyota on the factory line. For example, if there was a future build date without tech package, the dealer can ask to have TP added. Toyota then confirms if they will honor that request or not.

these days, from what I’ve heard, Toyota is not taking any preference requests. Dealers get what they get from allocation.

I wish Toyota would threaten or stop sending vehicles to dealers that are gouging with “market adjustment” prices like Ford is doing with the Maverick.

All solid advice here. Will add to check the national "KissMyGrits" Tacoma inventory spreadsheet EVERY morning. Once you find an ideal truck - look up the dealer code and make a call. If the salesman says its spoken for, give them your contact information in case a customer backs out or another becomes allocated to their dealer. A customer backing out of a Sport Access Cab 6MT from a previous called dealer is how I got mine 2 months into my search. Just keep at it, don't ever lose hope and be willing to travel for your dream truck. Afterall, these things cost $40k+/- and you'll be living with it for years on end.

I just noticed they aren't letting you create TRD Sport builds on toyota.com with leather or advanced tech anymore. Still seems to be there for OR and probably others. Anyone heard anything? Multiple dealers I was working with mentioned that advanced tech and blind spot monitoring were culprit for some of the slowdown, but just curious if this is the onset of those options falling off for 22 allocations going forward.

    try changing your zip code.

from what I remember the build tool is based on inventory in the area.

Ford says they are going to punish them but I'll believe it when I see it. Fords not upset about whats going on they are just saving face.

You still have a temp VIN. Check your dealer to see if they have a permanent VIN yet.

Damn that sucks. Where are you located? Do you think the delay is because you have a Pro or maybe tech package? My TRD OR had an original ETA of 5/5-5/10 but since last week that ETA is now missing. Dealer said ETA hasn't changed so we'll see but I doubt it'll get here (Illinois) by the 10th.

I think its the tech package that caused my delay but not sure. the truck was assembled on time so it was either waiting on sensors or was shipping delays

The last six characters have a letter in it. A permanent VIN's last six are all numbers only.

my build date was 5/5 and the temp VIN stopped working on 5/6 so I assume the truck made it down the assembly line.

I’ll reach out to my sales person tomorrow to see he’s got the new VIN so I can track again.

Hello everyone! I just started this get me a Tacoma adventure and I've been reading the forum here for a while now and finally joined. Great advice here, thank you all.

After wasting my time with 2 lazy Toyota dealers I finally found one across the state who took the time to explain the allocation process to me and get it all started. Finally!
So the clock starts for me @ 4-26-22 with a finance pre approval and 1k deposit. Sales lady and finance guy both said as soon as they get a VIN and build/delivery date they will get the rest rolling. This dealer sells @ MSRP and didn't try to sell me anything I didn't want. High volume dealer, motivated, no BS and nice people.

So, sometime in the near future I'll have an Army Green, or Gray, or Lunar TRD Sport access cab with a manual. I want the interior basic so no leather or tech package. I do want LED-Headlights and Fog Lights, All-Weather-Floor Liners and Door Sill Protectors, TRD-Premium Sport Package, TRD factory lift kit and the black TRD performance exhaust.

I'm also going to have them upgrade the tires to a more aggressive all terrain tire. Lucky for me many of the things I want will be added by the dealer.

I'm in no great hurry so we'll see how long it takes!
